QIF Review vanishes in thin air
A day ago, I would import QIF files, and see a button at the bottom of MoneyDance that would allow me to review each imported item. The program would automatically guess at categories, allowing me to edit. Then suddenly, not so much. When I hit Import QIF file, there is no reviewing each item, the QIFG file is just dumped into my account with no category tags. Puzzled, I tried to import the same file again, and now there are duplicates of each transaction, still no review and no category tags. I use QIFs to import data from my bank, all of these QIFs (one file works, two don't) came fromthe same session at the same bank. My books are a mess now!

Inappropriate? It sounds like you selected the "From Another Application" option in the QIF import window. There are two types of QIF files: 1) those exported from Quicken/Money and 2) those downloaded from a bank (that need to be categorized and potentially merged with already-entered transactions).
Just select the "From a Downloaded File" in the QIF import window. A better alternative, if available, would be to download .QFX, .OFX or .OFC files from your bank's web site. Those files are much better for preventing duplicates when importing because they are made for online transaction downloads whereas QIF was designed as a very simple transaction format before there was online banking. Note that the QFX/OFX/OFC formats are usually labeled as "Quicken" or "Microsoft Money" files on your bank's web site, but Moneydance can import them just fine.
Thanks,
Sean
