Inappropriate? The QIF file format isn't as sophisticated as OFX, etc. There is a discussion on the old forum that gets into some of the details: Why does QIF import really not work?. You'll be much happier with the results if you can use one of the other formats.
I’m earnest

Inappropriate?sbourne is right on. QIF can be very ambiguous as a download format, so Moneydance has to tip-toe around it a bit. This means it is possible to end up with duplicates of downloaded transactions or even downloaded transactions that are matched with local transactions by default that probably shouldn't be.
Using any of the other file formats (extensions: .OFX, .QFX, .OFC) will get much better results. QIF is most useful for importing data that was exported from another application such as MS Money or Quicken.

Inappropriate?Sean, it would be a lot better if you could set an option to turn off transaction matching, or at least set some parameters around what it matches - e.g. Date, length of match for payee, etc.
-
Inappropriate? It is possible to bypass the whole transaction matching process by selecting "from another application" in the QIF import window. Are you having a transaction matching problem when using QIF or QFX/OFX/OFC?
-
Inappropriate?Yes, I do. Especially on initial setup, when importing a lot of transactions. MD by default attempts to match to the previous months txn for repetitive txns. It is also fairly loose on the name, so people in the same family all seem to look like the same txn to MD, etc.
