Reports. Moneydance Vs. Quickbooks.
Reports...How similar is it to Quickbooks? Spicifically, Balance Sheets and Profit & Loss. My banker and accountant want Quickbooks reports but I hate that program.

Inappropriate?Oh boy, I'm sure Howard is going to want to weigh in on this one!
Casey, I'll answer your question with a question: do you know whether Quicken provide the reports that you currently use in Quickbooks? Because if Quicken would not meet your needs, then Moneydance will definitely not satisfy them either.
Moneydance is primarily for personal finances (analogous to Quicken), or very simple business finances (I use it for my business, but I'm a sole proprietor). So Moneydance is not going to have the type of business reporting that Quickbooks provides. Further, even in the personal finance realm, Moneydance falls far short of Quicken in its reporting.
Personally, I would not recommend Moneydance as a replacement for Quickbooks. -
Inappropriate?John, thanks for noticing!

Inappropriate? My dilemma is that I own a retail business where I don't have any accounts receivable or keep track of inventory. However, I would like to be able to pay bills on an accrual basis and get profit & loss reports. What I need is kind of a hybrid between personal and business financial software. I have been using iBank and everything was all fine and dandy until I started creating reports. iBank's reports are abysmal. All my banker and accountant want to see is reports that look like Quicken/Quickbooks. The search continues.........

Inappropriate? You'd probably be best off using Quickbooks. I use Quickbooks for my business and money dance for personal. Once you get used the the hoops you need to jump through, Quickbooks works well.

Inappropriate? Not sure what OS you are running on, but you can usually pick up an old version of Quickbooks pretty cheap. I've seen 2 or 3-year old Windoze versions on sale at Costco for $9.95. I'm running a 6-year old version of QB on the Mac for my 3 businesses, with no problems.
On the other hand, I sure was glad to ditch Quicken and go with Moneydance for my personal finances.
