How can I get Thickbuttons for 1.5 OS?
I am using a droid eris (android 1.5) and I can't get the link or the program to show up in the market. Will it even work for 1.5?

Hi Joshua and Leslie!
It is great that you liked the idea. Unfortunately we are not planning to develop version for 1.5 platform.
You may contact your carrier in order to get new version of Android for your phone.
Hope that will work!

Thickbuttons does not appear in the Rogers Canada version of the Android Market and scanning the 3D barcode produces "not found". I would like to try this app, it looks really interesting and useful.

I'm in the UK with a HTC Hero (Android 1.5) and I'm also unable to find this in the Market.

Philip,
Thanks for your fast response. It's a very good idea, but it's a shame I won't be able to use it until I receive an OS update.
If it helps anyone, I'm on H3G UK and the most recent rumoured date is 22/4/10 for 2.1.
Keep up the good work,

heh, my carrier is verizon and they are jerking us around about the 2.1 update so who knows when :(
-
On T-Mobile in the UK here, and they are pulling the same on us G2 users. (HTC Hero) I guess I'll try thickbuttons then.

16th April is the most recent rumoured date for 2.1 on T-Mobile UK. Not long to wait now! :)

this is unfortunate. as a galaxy user, i'm stuck with 1.6 with no more updates coming my way

what's the reason for no 1.5 or 1.6? I have a Sprint Hero and hopefully be updated soon, but I would have liked to have it already.
-
1.5 is pretty much different from 1.6. Also we were hoping that won't take that long for carriers to push an update...

A recent announcement from Sprint suggests the update will come in April.

I have t-mobile samsung behold2 1.5 and nothing in wind about an update. Really upset I can't try this. Looks like a great idea

no updates for my sciphone N19. Stuck at 1.5 but its not locked in to any carrier apart from the cheap price. The thickbuttons software looks promising though

Great so everyone who actually needs this app like ppl who got droid eris are SOL pretty much. I knew i should've gotten the motorolla droid then i couldve had this app and a real keyboard.

It really really really really sucks that you do not plan on supporting the 1.5 version of android...
was really looking forward to trying this out. Grabbed my phone, pointed at a barcode on a blog that reviewed this app to get "sorry the item is not found"...
at the rate that HTC is 'trying' to get 2.1 out for the Hero I will never get chance to try it as I can see me leaving the android community due to rubbish handset manufacturer support.. (unless a company other than HTC come out with a newer v2 android phone when im due my upgrade.)
I'll have to stick to Swype then =(
(by the way, new android phones are still coming out with 1.5 on them... look at the sony ericsson experia... )-
Pete, we understand your frustration. Handset manufacturers are fooling a big bunch of people every single month.
We are just hoping that they will finally push an update as they promised. -

I feel that App developers are leaving just as many people "fooled" as the handset manufacturers are. You all are just as aware as how many people are on 1.5 as well, but you clearly state you are not planning to develop for it, then turn around and tell them that they are being fooled.
Yet why not try to help those who are being "fooled" as you say, and offer what they feel is something fantastic to them instead of being just as snobby to them as the phone manufacturer is?
Really, it makes you no better than them.
Sorry, I'm just so very tired of others saying, oh sorry, this group of people over here is responsible for making fools out of you but I have this killer product, but because you didn't bother to spend an extra $300 on their better product, I'm not going to change a bit of code so you can use it too, even though it would make it easier for you until your provider can you get an upgrade they should have gotten you three months ago.
Granted, NONE of it is your responsibility, it's a series of unfortunate events, but do you want to contribute to those events, or help end them?
rant over now. -

If you have an LG Eve, you will be getting Android 1.6 some time "in spring", however LG has not announced plans for 2.1 yet.
