No voice-to-text option on nexus one (andriod 2.1)
Nice but I'd love to also still have access to the Nexus voice option. I had to switch back until that's added.

Hi hohums,
Thanks for the great tip! We really missed that and we will think how to implement this.

This is an awesome keyboard replacement, but I agree that it needs voice input. I would suggest using a long press on the comma or swipe across would start voice input. I like that they the added voice input option in 2.1 and I use it often, but it really irritates me that the comma is no longer there so please do not get rid of that. :)

Could voice be added as a long press on the ?123 key? its close to where people expect it to be, and it already pops a menu. hopefully ya can just add the Mic icon to the end of it?

That's a decent idea. Although having an icon to indicate its there may attract more customers. Possibly it could eat some of the smiley face an the space bars width to make room.
Also once you start typing a word it could possibly disappear until you press spacebar again for the next word... kinda maps well into this keyboards design. -

Great idea, Hohum. Leads me to think as soon as you start typing, yes, remove the microphone icon and leave it gone for the rest of the current message session because if the user began typing, odds are they will continue to use typing mode.

I disagree completely with this point. I constantly intermix typing and voice on my Android device. I often need to correct something that voice translation didn't get quite right and its often far easier to string a series of voice translations together so that you can easily insert punctuation. The voice option should always be available.

I agree with theflyer in that I often use voice and text. However I never need voice while in the middle of the word. So I think when I press "space" voice should reappear. ie when you are about to start a new word it should appear.

Voice option would be really great. If we could also add google's Gesture Search (or similar hand writing interpretor) it would be perfect :-)

Yep, the voice-2-text is a feature which becomes quickly second nature. The absence of this feature would be a deal breaker for me. Perhaps a premium option?
-
I'd pay for the premium option ($2 or whatever for a full keyboard) although I'd say that a lot of phone users don't get voice to start (at least until they get upgrades) with so they would have to have something else as well for those guys.

If it makes a difference, I'd like it for the Hero w Android 2.1. Great keyboard idea, but text-to-speech is just too useful to be without. Please add it!

I agree. Love Thickbutton, but not having an option to use the speech to text option is a deal breaker. I won't be able to use until that's added. Sorry!
