Brizzly should auto-refresh
Auto refresh. Much like gmail doesn't require that I hit refresh to check my mail, brizzly should do the same for my tweets.

Inappropriate?Thanks for the feedback!
Our concern with auto-refreshing is for instances when you're reading tweets and could get bumped down as new ones come in. That kind of experience can be frustrating. We figured we'd give you the option to refresh whenever you're ready. Hope you still enjoy it, though!

I'm not sure if that can be easily done, but how about scrolling the page down by the same amount that the new entries take up so that the currently visible tweets stay where they are -
Inappropriate?Thanks for the reply...
You can't simply add to the scrollbar but hold the current position ?
Tweetie for Mac does this. -
Inappropriate?Also, take a look at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7H9TWz...
Look at the window to the right. See how it updates ? Good Reader will support this very soon. I don't see why you can't. -
Inappropriate?Every Twitter client available supports auto-refresh. Both web-based (Sobees, Seesmic, PeopleBrowsr) and desktop (lots). So this puts Brizzly at a huge disadvantage. People don't want to constantly refresh their browsers anymore. Maybe include a pause option like FriendFeed?
I’m curious

Inappropriate? Thanks for the responses. It seems you both feel strongly about auto-refresh and you have good points. I'll bring it up with the rest of the team for discussion. I'll let you know if I have any updates. Thanks!
-
Inappropriate?Brizzly is now auto-refreshing. Just wanted to let you guys know.
-
Has Auto refresh been removed? I dont see it. I would not want it to be default too. There should be a way to enable/disable that -
Inappropriate?Ahh, very cool. Well done!
-
Have you had Brizzly opened the whole time? You mind need to do a hard refresh to see changes. -
Inappropriate?I'm not getting the auto-updates either. Otherwise I'd switch immediately (Friendfeed's pause button sounds like the perfect solution).
I’m frustrated (cos its a great service undone by this one problem
-
Inappropriate?Ya I wiped out my cash, restarted Safari.. and the "Refresh to see newer updates" still appears.
It doesn't look implemented to me. -
Indeed, you're right. We pulled down auto-refresh shortly after implementing. We have to make a few tweaks and then will have it back out soon. -
Inappropriate?hello there. i'm loving brizzly, but something that irritates me on the long run is to have to hit the refresh button all the time. can't we just have them flowing like in desktop apps...or like in itweet.net or the seesmic web app ?
I'm pretty sure this is on your roadmap though...

This is a feature we briefly implemented then removed. We plan to implement it in the future again. I'll let you know when we do. Thanks,
Corinna -
Inappropriate?sports websites have options to select how often the auto-refresh should be. that should be implemented to fit the user preferences.
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?Hey Corinna
Just found this thread recently. Thanx for all the work you guys are doing on features! Keep up the good work.
Can't wait for auto-refresh and whatever else you guys come up with!
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate? How about an automatic refresh feature built in so you don't have to keep refreshing all the time, good to have to notification that there are new tweets but auto refresh would be good!

Inappropriate?I would like to pause for reading and resume text stream to let sit on my second monitor. (maybe sound notification?)
-
Inappropriate?Seesmic handles auto-refresh a little differently, and I've come to like it.
If you're scrolled to the top of your stream, new tweets appear and push older ones down - the scroll bar stays at the top. If you're not at the top of your stream, the scroll bar adjusts down instead, and your view stays centered on a portion of your stream. Kind of a temporary placeholder for those who don't want to miss anything (like me).
Would love to see that functionality on brizzly.
By the way, I just joined tonight and I do not have auto-refresh - I'm seeing the "Refresh to see newer updates" -
Inappropriate?Brizzly now auto-refreshes if you're:
1) idle
2) not watching a video
3) not writing a tweet
4) at the top of the page

What if you're idle but not at the top of the page? -
I think it brings up the "refresh" link as before... also, if the refresh link appears before you aren't idle/are watching a video... etc, then if I meet the conditions at the next refresh interval, will the page refresh, or will the link simply remain in place? -
Inappropriate? My Brizzly does not always auto update. I've noticed on multiple occasions after auto-update was announced, it does not auto-refresh my main twitter stream. When I refreshed it manually I noticed tweets from hours ago just appearing. Please explain. Thanks, Joe....

Inappropriate? What's the deal with refreshing? Sometimes it seems to happen automatically, sometimes I get a button, and sometimes nothing. Same with the * in the HTML TITLE tag.

Inappropriate?where's the auto-refresh? everything else about brizzly is awesome, but not having it automatically load new tweets every minute or so is ridiculous.

Inappropriate?:::::::IMPORTANT PEOPLE PLEASE READ THIS:::::
Brizzly now auto-refreshes if you're:
- Idle
- Not watching a video
- Not writing a tweet
- At the top of the page
It works, we use Brizzly everyday (after dumping CoTweet) we, tweet a lot & we always have our window open.

Inappropriate?I want auto-refresh option. When it bothers to read other tweets, we can click on the 'pause' button or link to stop auto-refresh.
-
We're kicking around ideas on how to treat auto-refresh. We might make it a setting. I do like your pause idea too. -
Inappropriate?Being such a smart web app, I though brizzly would fetch the updates & refresh my timeline automatically. But no, it goes old school on this one and prompts the user to refresh the feed. And half of the times, there aren't even new updates! Remove this mess & turn the timeline into an auto-refreshing one.
