Change timestamp from relative to absolute?
How do I change the timestamp of tweets to display the actual time posted (ie. 8am, September 24 2009 or something similar) instead of a relative timestamp (ie. 9 minutes ago). Sometimes I won't refresh the page for quite some time and I'd prefer to have an actual time displayed rather than either refresh the page or do some mental mathematics to find out what the actual time posted was.

Inappropriate? There's currently no option to change the timestamp style, but we've heard the same request from several users. We'll consider changing or offering an option to change. Thanks for the feedback.

Inappropriate?I'd be happy to have this as option which I think would make most users happy as that way, you can have it "your way". Making it fixed one way or other is sure to upset one group of users or the other group.

Inappropriate?I'd like to see the timestamps get a bit smarter. Anything under an hour should say how many minutes ago it was. Anything under, say, 4 hours should say how many hours ago it was. Older than that should have the relative day (i.e., today, yesterday) with the time. Anything past yesterday should just have the absolute date and time. This mix of relative and absolute should make everyone happy (yeah, right!).
My 4 hour time period is not set in stone. It could just as easily be 6 or 8 hours or even as long as 24 hours as an extreme choice. I'm not sure if 16 hours makes intuitive sense to most people, but certainly 4 hours does.

smart timestamps: use both absolute *and* relative timestamps. -
Inappropriate? As an alternative idea that might be easier to implement (or might not), how about having the timestamps stay the way they are (relative time) but when you hover over them you get a tooltip which gives you the absolute time and date?
Even a "last updated at xx:yy on aa/bb/cccc" line in the large green box above the tweets, maybe right next to the Home label, would be an incredibly helpful addition.

Inappropriate?I like this. The hover option is a good idea. We made the time stamps a little more accurate by listing how many days ago updates were tweeted, instead of the old "about 2 weeks ago" method. I hope this improves the situation. Still I agree the hover option with exact time stamp is a good idea. Thanks for sharing!
