To be fair as well, supporting "identi.ca" alone isn't really enough, it should be "Support anything which has a twitter-like API"... which is a point - does Brizzly already support multiple twitter accounts (I think it does) and if so, it should be pretty straightforward to add StatusNet (the software which drives identi.ca) sites, as they nearly all use the Twitter API, from a different URL, thus, if you make it so that the "Add your twitter account" box has another option which says "Base URL for the API" (that defaults to Twitter's), those of us who use identi.ca, army.twit.tv, birdbrain etc. can add our StatusNet servers to the Brizzly feeds with very little impact to your already impressive site!
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate?Hi Zoe,
We have no current plans for identi.ca support. I'll let you know if that changes. We hope you can still use Brizzly!
Thanks,

Hi Corinna,
I was wondering whether this idea is on the "to-implement" list yet, and if so, how far off it is? I'd *really* like to have one site to cover my identi.ca, facebook and Twitter accounts and right now there's nothing on the desktop that does this.
Are you able to give us an update on this at all?
Thanks,
Jon "The Nice Guy" Spriggs -
Inappropriate?Shame there are no plans for Identi.ca, I doubt I'll be making much use of Brizzly without it - I've just added my own comment asking for it before noticing this!
I’m dissapointed

Inappropriate? Thanks for your feedback. We use a voting system to consider feature requests on GetSatisfaction. If we hear a lot of people requesting identi.ca support we'll bump it up the list of things to consider. We're not trying to neglect anybody!

Inappropriate?Aww, sad news indeed.
But if it is a voting system, then it is a voting system. We'll do just that, get votes. I hope that is serious tho ;)
I’m very sad

Yep, I'm also under the understanding that it should work that way. Since it is there already, it will be easier adding Laconica/StatusNet as compared to adding, say Plurk or Facebook.
They should really start with StatusNet, they'll easily get a bigger audience (and higher demand for the beta) if they add it. ^_^ -
I agree with JonTheNiceGuy. Adding Identica/StatusNet's API should be really easy from a technical standpoint. -
Inappropriate?I do all my microblogging from identi.ca - it uses the Twitter API, but there are few multi-column multi-platform clients that support it.
-
Inappropriate?I only follow Twitter for the pop-culture stuff, and do all my serious microblogging with my fellow geeks on Identi.ca. Adding support for statusnet's API should be a real no-brainer.
-
Inappropriate? Please, please, please make Brizzly the best microblogging aggregator ever by implementing this.
I’m not happy at the moment, but could be if you add identi.ca!
-
Inappropriate?I really want to use Brizzly, but I can't untill StatusNet-based microblogs, or at least Identi.ca, is supported. Since the API is identical it should take minimal effort to implement this. Just copy the coed you're already using to connect to Twitter, and replace the Twitter API URL. Please!
-
Inappropriate? This feature would give Brizzly an advantage over many competitors! Although it's true there is just a modest userbase for laconica/StatusNet microblogs: this could one day change when Twitter just can't cope with its own succes. It is nice to have a backup in place!
For me, Identi.ca is just that: a backup on a microblogging service that's more free than Twitter is. Implementation would be fairly easy, I can imagine! -
Inappropriate?StatusNet is the leading OpenMicroBlogging platform, and implementation of its Twitter-compatible API should be relatively easy.
I’m unhappy, but would be happy if Identica/StatusNet was supported

Inappropriate?I love Brizzly but normally use Gwibber as it supports Facebook, Twitter, and identi.ca. I would really prefer to use nothing but Brizzly, and this is the only thing standing in the way.

See? Nothing to it... :-)
I’m confident

Inappropriate? We really appreciate everyone's feedback. We do not have any current plans to support identi.ca. If that changes, we'll let you know.
