Inappropriate? Thanks for reporting and describing the error message. Information like that is always very helpful!
Our engineers are aware of the issue and working on fixing it. -
I am having this same issue. What is the xml-rpc url for plinky? I think knowing that and adding it to the update services might help. -
I'm getting that exact same error too (There was a problem adding this service: class or module required for rescue clause.). Made sure that the settings that were recommended (atom and xml-rpc) were enabled. I do have the latest version of WordPress installed (2.7). -
Inappropriate? We found a bug and this issue should be resolved. Posting to WordPress should be faster now. If you're still experiencing issues, let me know and we'll investigate further. Thanks!
-
Inappropriate? When adding from Plinky, I get a pop-up saying the add was successful, but the "service added" never sticks. I've re-added a few times, but it's never there when I return to the Services page.
I've enabled Atom and RSS Protocol as well. No help. :(
I’m retarded.
-
Inappropriate?1493715 - You're definitely not retarded; a few people are having this problem. You've probably already done this but did you try refreshing the page? If it's still not working, could you send me your blog's url?
We're working to fix this quickly and appreciate your feedback. Thanks! -
Sure! I'm at www.theanviltree.com. -
I'm having the same trouble as SarahLena. I'm at bergsie.wordpress.com. I tried refreshing. I've got two blogs associated with that name, but can't get either to stick. I was able to post to the other one earlier, but realized I had the wrong one. -
Inappropriate?I'm also getting the "There was a problem adding this service: class or module required for rescue clause." error when trying to add my self hosted wordpress blog. My URL is www.marcusmccurdy.com
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?Ok, I think I figured out why I can't add the service. I have my wordpress files in a directory other than my root folder on my site and I think this is the problem. I was able to successfully add the service to a blog that does have the wordpress files in the root folder so this leads me to believe that for some reason plinky has issues with blogs where the wordpress files aren't in the root folder. I'm not really sure how to fix this issue, but I thought it would help to clarify.
I’m confident
-
Hmm, very good point. On my blog (www.groovymarlin.com), the WP files are also in a directory (/blog) and not in the root. Perhaps the Plinky folks can do something to address this from their end? I'm definitely not going to migrate my blog to my server's root directory just to work around the problem. ;-) -
Inappropriate?Having the same 'rescue clause' problem on my blog, Dharok1337.co.uk. This is pretty much a fresh install of WordPress 2.7, not only that unlike you other guys. I do have my WordPress installed in the root, and I still can't get it working!
-
Inappropriate? It's possible that storing the directory somewhere other than the root is causing a problem. One of our engineers is working on a fix for this. It's very helpful that you sent over your urls - thanks for doing that.
As far as the rescue clause error, it seems to be a slight mystery, to be honest. We're investigating several different possible solutions and will let you know when we find one. In the meantime, thanks for using the service and being patient while we iron out these kinks! -
Inappropriate? In some cases, we were looking for service endpoints in the wrong place. We believe this has been fixed. Try removing your WordPress service and then adding it again. You should be able to send posts there now.
If posting is still not working, please let me know. Thanks!

this solves the problem

Inappropriate?Doesn't seem to be working. Is there a specific format I should use for my URL? I think I've tried them all: with http, without, etc. This is the error I'm getting now:
"There was a problem adding this service: 301 HTTP Error"
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?Darn. Same old error:
"There was a problem adding this service: class or module required for rescue clause."
-
Just to clarify, this is what I was putting in the URL field:
http://www.groovymarlin.com/blog/
And I'm still getting that rescue clause message. I still suspect a problem with it being in a subdirectory instead of the root. But I dunno! -
Inappropriate?I just tried again and am getting the same error as Groovymarlin 301 HTTP error.
-
Inappropriate? The 301 error is a redirect error. That means most likely what's happening is when you're entering your blog's URL it's not the exact place files are ending up. For example if your blog is at www.domainname.com/thoughts or www.domainname.com/blog. Is this a possibility?
It would be helpful if you could send me your blog url's so our engineers can look into what specific problems you may be having. -
Inappropriate?I just tried again -- my url reflects the directory where the blog is located. I tried using the domainname.org/weblog/wp-admin and got a 302 error -- then tried domainname.org/weblog and it worked. We'll see if I can actually post to it now.
-
Inappropriate? All: I was getting a 301 error as well, until I listed my url with the slash at the end like so:
loriestories.com/
Then it worked!
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?I'm glad it's working for some of you!
For those still getting the rescue clause or module error, our engineers are aware of the problem and are not sure exactly what's causing it. They are looking into several possibilities but don't have a solution quite yet.
I really appreciate your patience! Don't forget you can use our embed code to manually paste into your blog post too. Thanks! -
Hi Corinna
I have a self hosted Wordpress Blog @ www.rockangel.co.uk when I try and add it to my services I get a 301 error or it just plays up.
What am I doing wrong? -
Hannah, try using the url http://rockangel.co.uk and hopefully that will work. If you go to your site you will notice that if you type http://www.rockangel.co.uk into your browser it will switch to http://rockangel.co.uk without the WWW. That is why you are getting the 301 error, which is an error stating that the URL has moved. You web host probably has your DNS setup to redirect www.rockangel.co.uk to rockangel.co.uk -
Inappropriate?I had a thought that perhaps it could be related to adding an API key? To add most other things, or to allow access to a wordpress blog, it usually requires the API key. I am one of those still patiently waiting, but using the manual embedding code. Glad to see you've got your guys on the case now and am looking forward to using your service daily!
-
Inappropriate?Initially, mine was not working, but after the plinky engineers changed something it worked for me. Here is what I did in Plinky.
Select wordpress.org
URL: http://www.mysite.com/
Then I put my username and password. I used an account that has admin privileges for my wordpress blog so I'm not sure if that matters or not, but I have had that be an issue on other sites that post to blogs. My site's wordpress files are actually located in a /wordpress folder, but it did not work if I tried to put http://www.mysite.com/wordpress/ as the URL. Just put the url to your site and hopefully it will work. Hope this helps someone.
I’m happy
-
Strange, I'm not sure whats up with the 301 error. Do you have some kind of redirect setup on your site? -
Redirect setup.. Not that I'm aware of! Everything is hosted right there, nothing redirects to anything! -
It is because when you goto http://www.dharok1337.co.uk/ in a browser if you notice it will pause for a second then redirect to http://dharok1337.co.uk/ so it is redirecting. Try just using your url without the www and hopefully it will work. -
Inappropriate?I get "There was a problem adding this service: there was a problem adding this service"
URL is http://www.elainenelson.org -- it's an older version of WP (2.2) if that matters!
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Elaine -
We just made a change that should fix the problem. Let me know if you still have any issues.
Thanks!

Inappropriate?I'm also having problems adding my self-hosted blog. Like some of the people here, I have my WP files in a /blog directory. When I try adding it as a service, it tells me that it successfully added it, but then it never shows up and it still says I haven't added any services.
My blog's address is www.geekperspective.com (or www.geekperspective.com/blog if you want to skip the immediate auto-redirect).
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Square Bottle and statrixbob - thanks for reporting this. I was not aware that we were still having issues with WP. We implemented a fix last week and no one reported problems since then so I thought we were in the clear.
I will let our engineers know and hopefully we'll have it working again soon. -
Inappropriate? My Plinky answers now do go to my blog!!! It started working this morning. However I noted that the image I attached to my "scar" answer did not go to my blog. However the post itself made it fine.
Thx, Bob
I’m happy and thankful!

Inappropriate?I just got a Plinky account and I would love to add my Wordpress (self hosted) blog but it isn't working. I put in my site address, my username, and password and it just keeps coming back with "There was a problem adding this service: There was a problem adding this service." I even tried using the url where my wordpress exists (http://www.adorability.org/wordpress) but still no luck. Is there a certain user/pass I am supposed to be using? I'm just using the one that I always use to log into Wordpress. I also made sure to check that the XML-RPC option was enabled.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Melanie -
Are you storing your files in a directory? If you store them at http://www.adorability.org/ then you should be able to add Plinky with your regular WordPress username and password. If it's not working there's a problem that we need to look into. Let me know and we'll take care of it asap. T
Thanks!
Corinna -
Inappropriate?Yes, I am storing all my Wordpress files in a folder called "wordpress". I tried logging on using http://www.adorability.org/wordpress with the same user/pass I use to log onto WP and still no luck =/ I'm not sure what could be wrong.
-
Inappropriate?Corinna-
I am still getting the same error even with that address =( Could it be a problem with my host server or something? (I am using 1and1.com) -
Inappropriate?Square Bottle - you are not neglected! Our engineers have been overwhelmed with work recently but they are aware of the problem. I've sent them both Melanie's and your information. I promise I'll update you as soon as they figure out what's wrong. Thanks so much for your patience.
Corinna

Thanks for reassuring me that this is getting attention! :D -
Inappropriate?PS. Melanie - I don't think it's a problem with your server.
-
Inappropriate?Awesome....thanks for your help Corinna!
-
Inappropriate?I'm having trouble adding my blog http://mikejhall.com/blog it says There was a problem adding this service: There was a problem adding this service.
-
I am still having this exact problem. I've had it for months now and it has never been resolved. The error message is particularly un-informative. -
Inappropriate? Thanks for reporting, ddaydude. We had to put wordpress issues on the backburner for a spell but I'll make sure our engineers get to it tomorrow. I'll update you as soon as I know something. Thanks!
Corinna -
Inappropriate?Ddaydude - the type of error message you're getting could mean you need to enable xml-rpc publishing. You may have to go to http://www.YOURDOMAINNAME.com/wp-admi... and enable Atom and XML-RPC publishing protocols, and try adding it again. If it still doesn't work, let me know. Thanks.
-
Inappropriate?Melanie -
Try adding http://www.adorability.org/wordpress/... as your url again. It should work now (we found and fixed a bug). If it doesn't let me know!
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?Corinna,
Okay, it says that the service was added now which is good, but it is not appearing anywhere under my "services". =/ -
I let our engineer know about this. He's very busy with some other fixes today but hopefully can get to it tomorrow and I can update you. Thanks for being patient! -
Inappropriate?GroovyMarlin -
We are seeing a 412 error when you try to add your blog. You may want to contact your host and ask them about a setting called mod_security. Having that enabled may be causing the problem (it's a setting that your host can change for you). There is also a chance that it's not mod_security specifically in which case you should mention the 412 error when you try to add WP to Plinky.
Thanks,
Corinna -
Inappropriate?Square Bottle -
Try adding again. We made some changes that should've addressed the problem. I hope it works for you :) (but let me know if it doesn't). Thanks!
Corinna -
Inappropriate?Mine isn't working; I get the "there was an error: there was an error" message. I definitely have XML-RPC publishing enabled; I've used it for years and in face I just signed up for CellSpin today and posted with no problem. If you can figure anything out please let me know; I'm quite confident the problem isn't on my end!
I’m waiting

Inappropriate?Meredith -
What is your blog's url? Thanks,
Corinna

To my surprise it's now all set up! I didn't have to re-add it or anything. I just went back to Plinky today and it was fine. So...thanks for whatever you did! -
It could've been that the page just needed to refresh. Either way, I'm glad WP is working for you now! -
Inappropriate?I'm having a similar, but different issue. It looks like I'm able to add my self-hosted WP blog (http://astreetproductions.com/weblog) after adding in the login info. I get the "Hooray!" message, but then my list of services is still empty.
-
Inappropriate?I am having problems posting my Plinky answers to my self hosted Wordpress blog. I have double checked that xml-rpc posting is enable.
Blog address: www.thegirlinthecafe.com
When I try to add the service in Plinky, enter username and password it displays my blog beneath the Plinky Add Service form (which is a bit weird?) but that's it, it does not seem to add it.
