News update, beta and refund policy.
Dejumble 2.0 is coming along very well. We still can not give a release date however, but we can promise that it will be coming relatively soon. Please accept our apologies for the delay. Software development is a lengthy process, and we have learned a lesson from the beta releases of Dejumble 1.2.xx. The lesson is to not release any software prematurely. To insure we don't repeat the past mistakes we want to insure the Dejumble 2.0 upgrade is working as advertised for all users.
We will be issuing a private beta of Dejumble 2.0. both for the iPhone as well as the mac version. We will contact people who have signed up in the past to beta test, there will also be a beta signup form on our website.
30 Day limited refund policy
It is simply not possible for us to process any refund request from promo sales (ie mupromo.com and maczot.com) as it is against these site's policies. Regular refunds can only be issued under reasonable cause within thirty days of the purchase. Because the synchronization feature is considered a beta feature, we cannot and will not issue refunds in regards to issues with it.
Dejumble Beta Policy for 1.2 versions.

Inappropriate?Your business practices seem to be shady at best.
First you dupe us into buying the software by telling us that we will be getting the new and improved version with all of these extra features.
Then you tell us that the new and improved version is not coming anytime soon and that you are "gathering capital" - which in my mind tells me the money we paid has been wasted away.
Now you tell us that we can't get a refund if we bought through the promo? Last I checked I did not get what I purchased.
I have sent two refund requests and expect to get a refund. Fact is, I need a task management system that works and yours DOES NOT! I have moved onto another solution and am not longer using Dejumble at all. Any honest business would put it's customers first.
As for the development process - from a customer point of view, I could care less about your excuses. If you would have been honest from the get go, it would have been a different story.
This is pathetic!
I’m frustrated, angry, mad & duped
-
The fact is, we have been clear that the synchronization server is a beta feature. With beta features, we cannot guarantee that they will work for every person. This is why we give users a 30 day trail period. The promo sites are very clear that their are no refunds allows. We understand that their have been problems for some users, and are working very hard to resolve them in the next release. Also we do our best to be open with what we can say about future releases. As for missing the deadline for the 2.0 release, that is simply a reality of the software market. As such we now cannot give release dates until we are sure the product is ready for release. -
Inappropriate? The problem I am having is that I bought the software because YOU had indicated that the 2.0 release was going to be made available and that as incentive to buy the release, MacZot would be promoting Dejumble.
I am well aware of the bugs in beta software and am fine with that. I am not fine with being tricked into buying a product that is not yet available. I guess the lesson in this is that you can never trust the developer? You would think of all people that you would have a good feel on the release date, especially since at one point you provided an exact date of release.
Just let me have my refund and I will be gone for good. I don't care how good version 2.0 is, I want nothing to do with this company.
I’m disappointed
-
Yes, and I do apologize about that. We did miss the mark on the release date. The 2.0 release is coming and I personally put over 10 hours a day into the development of this project alone. The promo was originally intended to be with version 2.0 and that version is still coming. All promises of free upgrades are also still in effect. I understand that their have been some problems for some users, this is a fact of software. Better to have a worry free, bug free release then to release another beta be it beta 2.0 or whatever... -
Inappropriate? We both know there is no such thing as a bug free release. There you go again giving promises you cannot deliver. What are you going to say to us when you FINALLY release the software and we find a bug?
It is better to be straight and honest with your clients. Let them participate in the development by actually getting their hands on the product --- especially if they have paid money for it. This is how to do it. They way you are doing it shows poor judgement and causes me as a customer to question whether or not I have been scammed.
I really could care less about the upgrades for life. At this point, I find that hard to believe. You will probably change the name of the software or find some sort of loophole which will allow you to still charge us when the next major upgrade comes through.
I am now using another software which I am quite happy with and want to put this whole thing behind me. Two words -- Please refund. -
Inappropriate?Almost feel I should put this into a new thread.
Again, thanks for the update Allan. Of course you know I am "in" on the beta test of 2.0 on both platforms.
I looked out there again today for something that would do what Dejumble currently does. It doesn't exist. Things is the closest and it is not menubar driven. I don't want another app in my dock. I just want an easy to get to task management system that syncs with my iPhone.
So I still am looking forward to this release. I think I check here everyday to see if it has been released. I'll look forward to the beta test.
Thanks!
I’m still hopeful.
-
Inappropriate?I know you don't want to hear this, dj41, but it does seem that they sell their software "as is" and that they clearly mean to call that out as part of the beta sales agreement. Unless I am misunderstand, of course (which is always possible for me!). Selling beta versions can be as tricky as buying them, I guess. I hate to hear that this situation has gone bad for you, and I'm not sure there will be a good compromise for you, but I'm going to hope we can somehow find a solution that is mutually agreeable.
I do like your idea of letting customers participate. This may sound completely crazy, but it would be cool if they could harness your critical eye to help them test the 2.0 version. It sounds like you don't want to continue to use their software, but it genuinely does look like some pretty interesting stuff. I just installed it and am going to try it out, although I do expect that I'll encounter a few hiccups in the beta version.
I’m hopeful
-
Inappropriate?I'll be honest - once upon a time, I was really excited about this software. When it worked, I was happy and was looking forward to 2.0.
Then the syncing stopped working and then my tasks started duplicating or not completing or coming back from the dead. It became totally unreliable. This of course was bearable as I was told that as of December, a new and improved version would be released (focussing on fixing the sync issues). I guess what happened next is obvious...
I don't want to be jumping back and forth between task managers and I can't wait indefinitely, in the dark, for these guys to pull their socks up and actually show some respect to their customers.
This is my story and I am sure hoping the next version blows us away because it looks like I am stuck in not being able to get a refund...
I’m forced into compliance
-
Inappropriate?EVen though it sounds like they are playing tricks on us, I would nt crticise them much.
The reason is this platform that they have opened for us to complain.
I am sure they are not shoddy characters... How often do u find such support from the developer of an application.
Allan and team , u guys rock. ( but i do miss the update > hope fully we will see this soon )
.
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate?I'll Have to fully agree with dj41.
1) A β is a β. it is a functional version of a better bug-less product to come.
2) What Dejumble is for the moment barely qualify as αlpha
3) Releasing dejumble for iPhone and promoting the sync, scandalous, it has never worked (looks like it has been taken off the appstore, maybe Apple woke up)
To the defense of Things. Their αlpha (0.81) was more stable than any of Dejumble release, and was free.
Yes there was an optional pre-release purchase, but you knew when the release was to be.
We have a better chance to have a feature request a Cultured Code for a menu icon realised than having a fully functional Dejumble.
To all of us who bought Dejumble, and also got duped into purchasing the iPhone version, I guess we should write it off and learn our lesson -
Inappropriate?Dejumble definitely off the App Store.
Maybe the Fluid Synchronisation was a bit of a lie and false adverstising ?
I’m not surprised anymore
-
We removed the app from the app store ourselves to prepare for Version 2.0 release... Also our website has been taken down. Users of version 1.x can still receive support via email with support(at)dejumble.com. -
Why would you take the website down? This makes zero sense. Just make some changes, remove the ability to download the old version and promote the new version. This keeps getting shadier... -
Inappropriate?CAVEAT EMPTOR
With all respect Allan, The app should have been pulled out immediately, or better not ever been there.
You must understand that the people who have in good faith purchased products of Thinking Code feel very wary about events @ Thinking Code, with a slight feeling of a crumbling cookie
1) You were looking for funding
2) You were looking into restructuring the team
3) The β(lost count) Desktop got worse and worse
4) The Mobile version never synced
5) URL is being down for the new release ???? No teasers? No UI preview? Something that look like a 404 page
6) The soon to be released, V2 (hope not V2β....), is very shy to show its head.
7) Not revealing features enhancements of version 2 as not to compromise the product? Face it Allan during the lethargic development of Dejumble other products have overtaken and probably have gained on some old dejumble customers, who will be reluctant to keep changing App.
If V2 sees the light I'll be happy to try it. As for the iPhone we are for sure not looking before mid March as for the App Store review Process...... -
Inappropriate?Shady? Very dark for me. The more I think about it, it looks like the curtains are closing for the final time after a very unsuccessful show. And the getaway car in waiting in the backstage .....
I’m feeling dejumble is like a bad meal, you have eaten it, now digest it!
-
Inappropriate?You guys are depressing!
How about we just wait and see what happens. With all due respect, I'm tired of the ranting. I get it that you are upset. Why don't we just look for it when it comes out and give it a try. I mean, I think it was okay to post the first comment because that is what these forums are for. But c'mon! To follow up with a second post 13 hours later that adds nothing new but further bemoaning. Please.
Yes. We would like it if Dejumble 2.0 was out before today and would take it today. But it isn't out yet. Let them code for goodness sake.
I’m willling to be patient.
-
Do you work for thinking code software? I am not sure how anyone could be happy be jerked around like these guys are doing to us. Trust me, the negative comments will stop once we see something positive. -
Weird, I had the same feeling. Alter egos perhaps ? -
Inappropriate?I admire you optimism and patience.
I'll be the first one to apologise if this has a happy ending ....
But the points raised by dj41 and myself are valid.
Think about it! You paid for an iPhone version that advertised a fluid synchronisation (no mention of beta on appstore). That has never worked! Then when it comes to the refund ... sorry sync is a beta feature no refund for that one.
For the sake of an example. Imagine one of the big cell manufacturer advertises PUSH email on their device. After purchase you realise the feature is not working, you for sure would like a refund. And you will get it!
Dejumble would be splendid if it worked, nice GUI, Menu Bar, uncluttered, it has everything to be a must have application.
Perhaps I am cynical on this, probably the wait for a working version for the last 5 months made by what look like a cash strapped one man team, fueled this rhetoric
And again I'll apologise on this public forum to the author, the day I can have my duo dejumble Apps working ok and syncing
I’m might be moaning or realistic
