What is your opinion of Ethan Allen furniture?
We are considering buying a dining room set from Ethan Allen. I see alot of discussion regarding Thomasville's lack of quality and customer service, but not much discussion on Ethan Allen. From those that have made RECENT purchases from Ethan Allen, what is your opinion of the quality of the furniture and company's customer service?

Inappropriate?I bought EA furniure years ago (25-30 yrs) - pine collection and then their cherry canova collection, still using it. Our son and daughter bought some of their funiture because of this about 10 years ago and it was terrible. Ethan Allan went to a lower quality furniture and it really shows. Many pieces had to be replaced or fixed. Quality is not the same as it was. Would never buy it again.
Unfortunately like most US furniture companies everything is made in China and the quality is not there. Just bought a house full of furniture, different brands, all from China, couldn't find any made in US. Had problems with some of it, brand didn't matter. Some minor problems some major. -
Inappropriate?EA isn't what it used to be, I worked for them and purchased several pieces from the Horizons Collection, its been 2 years and it isn't holding up like I would have imagined.

Inappropriate?Check out this link for my experience with Ethan Allen product quality. Unfortunately, not any better than the experiences of others. Too bad, as they use to make very high quality and affordable furniture.

I’m disappointed with Ethan Allen

Inappropriate? We bought bedroom furntiure there about 5 years ago. The quality is terrible for the price. It was delivered with what I consider blemishes that were not fixable (dark streak in the supposed "birch" wood, etc.). Since then the finish on the "brushed nickel" knobs is coming off, as is the veneer on the bed rails. I would not buy furniture from there again, it looks nice but it's a huge ripoff.
I’m disappointed.

Inappropriate?today I purchased my LAST piece of furniture from EA--a dining room table and 6 chairs. My wife and I have always loved the look of their furniture. Over the years we've purchased 17 items ranging from pictures to dining room sets. But there is always a story behind each purchase or delivery date. The biggest problems I have with them is: the length of time it takes to get a piece of furniture--they say usually 6-8 weeks but it's more like 10+ weeks. the delivery schedule is ALWAYS changing so you never know when to expect it; the cost of the furniture and with todays economy you can get just as quality furniture but at a lower price; and their customer service--I don't even know where to start! My latest delivery has taken forever and I even had to contact their corporate office in CT. I went over my numerous problems and they referred me to a district office on the west coast. I spoke to another person who was apologetic enough and offered me a $400 cost reduction. Of course a few days ago I learned it was actually only $100. Granted we were speaking on my cell phone but it sure sounded like $400 to me which would have been about a 10-15% discount to a long term customer but she assured me it was only $100. I called her to discuss the offer and she said she wasn't the one who offered the $400 it must have been someone else. She later emailed me saying that she was the one who had offered the discount but it was only for $100. why didn't she acknowledge it on the phone? If I'd known before it was only $100 I would have cancelled the order. unfortunately, I was in a bind because my table had been delivered a month earlier and I needed the chairs---yes so much for coordination, huh?. Today they gave me a window period and then called me at work 2 hrs before it asking if i could come home right away and get my chairs---this is so typical of them. I've written the corporate office person again with my latest experience to say they have major communication problems and to confirmed I would no longer be buying EA furniture.....we've had it.
I’m keeping my money!!!

Inappropriate?I bought a marble octagon dining table from Ethan Allen in El Paso, TX back in June of 2008. In the last few months, there have been stress cracks on the outer rims of the table. This weekend I noticed a deep crack and crabbed the end of the table and large 4-6" chunks of my table have broken off into my hands on a $1400 table! I am devastated by this and am in the process of trying to contact Ethan Allen to find out what can be done...From the comments above, I don't believe I will have much luck. Would never buy from them again!

Inappropriate?I placed an order for a custom chair from ea 1700.00 which arrived at my home damage. I did not pay for the balance and didn't except the delivery. Because of the damaged chair and horrible customer service I asked for a refund of my deposit the manager agreed to the refund 3 days after my original request only to call a week later to say that she will not refund me my deposit. At this point I'm very upset and ready for small claims court. I would never shop at ea again and would not recommend them to any one!
BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!

Inappropriate?I placed an order for living room furniture from Thomasville on 7/19/2009 so that I would have it in time for my annual Thanksgiving dinnet, & I have not received it yet. The first problem which was found seven weeks after placing the order, an incorrect finish code was used for the sofa and chair. Delivery was set for November 1st and the delivery company found defects in the sofa and sent it back. My list of complaints could go on and on, but my main complaint is the lack of communication with the sales consultant who took over my sales after the original person i was dealing with suddenly quit. I just learned that all my living room furniture is ready for delivery except the ottoman, which is the centerpiece of the whole room (all the colors in my room coordinate with that ottoman. Needless to say I am NOT HAPPY!!!!!
I’m frustrated
