baggage questions
I am about to go on a trip to MO and NYC and I usually take a rolling bag along with this large tote bag and check them both, My tote bag is no longer able to be used so I was looking to get a build your own bag. I have a Timbuk2 laptop bag, and love it, but in terms of checking that sort of bag do you know how it does going though airport checked baggage? And on that note would you recommend for me to get one of the large tote(messenger like bags) instead, or stay with getting the build your own XL messenger?

Inappropriate?i don't know about checking our bags, but i DO know that the XL is really, really XL. double check the dimensions and make sure that's the size you need.

Yeah, the Xl is a great size, I can carry all my shoes :). But the issue I am having is, the whole can I check that bag with out it opening up? -
Inappropriate?Owning both medium and large Classic Messengers, and being a frequent traveler, I wouldn't think it would be ideal. I haven't tried it, but it's not really designed to "close up" as much as most luggage. If it was stuffed rather full (to give it a more solid shape), with the shoulder strap tucked inside, the buckles clipped shut and tightened down, it might work fine but a good zippered duffel bag would still be better (IMHO). One idea, you could probably run one of those luggage "belts" (used to help keep suitcases closed) around the bag, and thread it through the reflector attachment strap for extra security
BTW, I've found the M and L messengers work VERY well for me as carry-on bags. :).
