Build Your Own Messenger for a laptop: don't want a handle

For the Build Your Own Bag, I am wondering what the difference (if any) between a Medium Messenger Bag with a Laptop Insert and a Medium Laptop Messenger bag. I want to have a medium size bag with a built in laptop compartment (for a Macbook) but don't want to have the handle. Wondering if I can just do the Messenger and add the laptop compartment. That way, no handle. Does that make sense?
