Commute bag needs stronger shoulder clips
The Commute bag should have much stronger shoulder strap clips. I've only have my bag for two months and the plastic clip connecting the "J hook" to the strap broke. Maybe I've got a heavy laptop or I don't sling it across my chest as gingerly as I should or the plastic clips need to be stronger. I can understand them wearing out after a few years of use, but to break after two months is unacceptable. I hope some stronger clips are in the works. Thanks.

Inappropriate? That's covered under our warranty and we'd like to see what's going on with it. Please fill out the form at http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/retail/war...
and send it to us. we'll send you a credit for a new bag. Sound good?
I’m a bit bummed about it.

Inappropriate? Also, if you could send us the actual bag/strap, that will help our Product Design team improve the product. Thank you!

Inappropriate?Hey guys, Thanks for the quick responses. So I should just return the shoulder strap or the entire bag? I love the bag and don't want to have to pick another one so I hope I can just return the shoulder strap.
Thing is, I cut off the other clips so I could use carabiners to attach the strap to my bag. But I can send all the cilps with the strap, including the one that broke and shows how one of the prongs at the end of the J Hook broke off.
The problem with using carabiners (small locking ones I bought from a sports store that are not climbing grade) is that the "quick release" (on the middle of the shoulder strap) used to adjust the length of the shoulder strap doesn't work because the shoulder strap gets bunched up in the carabiner.
Given my choice over it bunching up or a replacement strap that uses the same plastic J Hooks that broke, I'll take the carabiners. My bag fell off my shoulder when the clip broke and I caught it just before it fell to the ground--with my laptop in it. While it's in a the protective liner of the commute bag, it would suck to have a clip break while on my bike.
I hope all this feedback helps you [Timbuk2] or someone else out.
All that said, would you please confirm if the replacement strap I would receive for sending my broken one back will be made differently. Or is it just a replacement? Also, it would be cool if you guys sent out the replacement to people first so they don't have to go weeks without a shoulder strap. Just a customer service idea for you.
Thanks for hearing me out.

Inappropriate?I returned my bag and received a $100 gift certificate to be used at the online Timbuk2 store. Problem is, most laptop bags are $110-$165. Not to mention it cost me about $10 to send the bag back AND the cheapest shipping offered on your site for my replacement bag is $17.95. So, to have you "replace" a product of yours that broke after two weeks I need to pay an additional $82.95! This is NOT acceptable. I will be calling customer service this week to express my frustration.
I’m angry

Inappropriate?I should be fair in mentioning that if I bought the cheapest laptop bag (of the ones without the J Hook shoulder clips that broke) it would cost me an additional $33.95 ($10 for me to send bag back to you, $10 in addition to my $100 credit to purchase a $110 bag, $13.95 for shipping). Still unacceptable.
Why should I have to pay any money to receive a replacement. Being without my bag and having to send it back is hassle enough.
Oh, and the figure in the prior post should be $92.95 if I get a $165 bag (my original bag is not available), $65 in addition to $100 credit for the bag, $10 to send broken bag back, $17.95 for shipping).
