commute in-flight: personal item or carry on?
Is the commute 2.0 small enough to count as a "personal item" on a flight, or would you have to designate it your carry on bag?

Inappropriate?Def. small enough to be considered "personal." Think of it as a brief case (but not as boring).

Inappropriate? While it's ultimately the airline's call, I've traveled with my primary luggage (i.e. the bag with all my clothes, etc. that fits under my seat or up above) and the Commute Slim together dozens of times without an issue. In fact, I've even coupled it with the Commute, the Blogger, and a few other (equally large & larger) bags that I don't recall the names of - never a problem. Granted, I typically fly Continental, but I've never known an airline to balk as long as each bag (separately) will fit in those little indicator frames. In my experience, a "personal' item is whatever you choose, even if it's the same size as your "carry-on". Short answer: I'd say you'd be just fine.
