Does the Nikon D300 fit in a Large messenger bag?
I am looking to buy a new messenger bag, my old one is falling apart. It would be sweet to have a bag that could hold my laptop AND a Nikon D300 with a lens attached to it. I am thinking about getting a large messenger bag, (of course customized all the way), and seeing where that gets me. For the Nikon camera... I already have a case for it, so the case itself would need to fit inside the bag. Ideas/Suggestions?

Inappropriate?I have an older large messenger bag and I carry my laptop (MBP 15") and D300 all the time. If fits great, if not a little bit heavy.
I have adopted the camera bag hack (http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/cms/hackKi...) and am very very happy. That link uses a medium bag, but you get an idea for the modular nature of the project. Using the large allows for the laptop with no problem at all. Depending on the size of the attached lens, it should not be a problem (something like the 70-200 2.8 might not quite fit facing down. I use and old school TBK laptop grip sleeve for computer, but I think the newer "classic sleeve" should work smashingly.
Hope this helps!

Inappropriate?Sounds great! I don't have more than one lens (starving student status makes that erm... impossible to get more lenses), so I leave the lens attached to the camera body except when I travel. I already have a case for it, but certainly as my lens collection grows (albeit slowly) I will consider getting a medium bag and put together a camera hack kit. For now, I will stick with the large bag, and see where that goes! Thanks for the great info.
I’m excited
