got an idea for you...
The company I work for (NameMedia) recently bought us all laptop bags. I got the Hacker model & it's a great bag! Most laptop bags, like yours, have a compartment where you can keep your phone, wallet, pens, etc, but I don't think I've ever seen one where you could remove that part and carry it separately, like a purse. And that's what keeps these bags from being totally useful to me. I can move all my stuff into my laptop bag and carry it in to the office, but when we all head out to lunch, what's my option? I've got to find pockets for my wallet, keys, phone, lipstick, Kleenex, comb...hey, maybe *you* don't need all that stuff just to go to lunch, but why do you think women carry purses, anyway?!? ;-)
So I have to carry my wonderful laptop bag - *and* my stupid purse every day! It would be so cool if the laptop bag compartment that holds all the non-laptop stuff could detach, with a snap or a zipper or something, and had its own little strap that I could use to put it over my shoulder. omg, it would be the ultimate bag!
C'mon, it's a great idea! I will be happy to volunteer as a tester for your prototypes...

Inappropriate?I like this idea a lot. I need a man purse that fits inside my laptop carrying bag. At one time, I actually carried a small army bag within a backpack for this purpose. Note that canvas army bags of most sizes often have metal rings on the outside so they can be tied to jeeps, other bags, etc. I tried that bag-within-a-bag thing for awhile, but it was clunky and didn't work out. So, yeah: two-bags-in-one is a great idea, IMHO! I feel you, Pat!
I’m ready to be your guinea pig, too

Inappropriate?love the idea...much better than toting two on the bus! needs a handy outside pocket for that bus pass, too.

Inappropriate?so good i'm not the only one out there with my laptop needs not being met! i'm not really a purse-carrying lady but need the basics (wallet, keys, gloss, etc) but i don't want a giant purse to run in to a store or out to lunch or the cafe. i want fashion and function but currently find myself toting a laptop bag and stupid girl purse. please implement this idea. the curly-q is cute but not as functional as it could be.
I’m crapping my panties i like this so much.

Inappropriate?Sounds like your looking for an Admin Pouch. I think thats what the tactical nylon guys usually refer to it as. Here are a couple...

Inappropriate?Hi hi..
I think the Timbuk2 Pork Chop can serve as the things that you are looking for.
U can hide it inside your bag, and take it out when you are heading off without your laptop bag. :)
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?I too would like a removable compartment, however I was thinking of the current organizer insert that could be moved from bag to bag. I tend to use multiple bags (XS, SM, MD) and would like to pop the insert out easily and into the next bag. Perhaps attached by velcro or strong snaps? And maybe a small strap/handle so you could carry it by itself? I realize there are design issues, an XS organizer would be too small for the LG or XLG bags and visa versa. It would also be really cool to be able to buy them separately, and in fun solid colors.
