How do the fabrics FEEL?
I'm considering a black Eula bag, but I'm still deliberating on the fabric. I know there's plenty of topics about how they look, and the colors offered, but I'm more concerned with how they feel. I'm pretty sure I don't want the Ballistic, but the black Cordura and X-pac are both tempting. I'm definitely liking the lighter weight of the X-pac, along with its strength and waterproof-ness, but it seems like it could be a more "slippery" material, which is a down-side for me. I'm more inclined towards softer, natural fabrics, though I'd like to have a bag that will last more than a month, which is why I came here to timbuk2. So, can someone who has used both of these fabrics, or an employee, give me an idea of how the fabrics feel, perhaps in comparison to another material with which I'd be a bit more familiar?
In short, if you had a bag made of Cordura and a bag made of X-pac and you had to pick one to use as a pillow, which would you use?

Inappropriate?Lets see.....I ordered a Eula a few months ago in the Ballistic. Nice....not a dull looking fabric and pretty darn soft. I also have a small limited edition XS classic that is made of the x-pac material that is a few years old and still looks brand new. And have just ordered a market tote made out of the x-pac material...cinder/black/cinder. I can't wait to get this one. I own quite a few bags from them and I will have to say that all of them are not cordora except fpr one.....and that is a very old pork chop from way back when....it was made in the USA. The pork chop is made from cordura. Love the bag, but would like it to have been in anything other than the cordura. I personally like the others over cordura if I have a choice.
Here is something I copied from the Timbuk2 website on the material look:
"The Ballistic has a higher sheen, brighter colors and a smoother surface.
Cordura® has a finer weave and matte finish, for a traditional, more rugged
look. In sum, your selection is largely a matter of personal style.
The x-pac material is very smooth and one thing that I like about it is that since it is smooth....it does not seem to snag...or get dirt caught in all of those little weaves. It is extremely light too.
OK...lets see if I can compare how they feel.......Cordura seems rough (but not an uncomfortable feeling) to me when I run my hand down it.....Ballistic is smoother with a textured feel too....and the x-pac is just plain smooth feeling...no little weaves to feel.
I hope that this will help you on your quest.
I’m happy to try & help.

Inappropriate?sounds like you're looking for cordura.. xpac is slippery. both fabrics will last for a long time and personally i like the look of an aging cordura bag .. they break in so nicely.. also they both will be about the same degree of waterproofness since the liner is tpu and will keep the water out.
I’m thinking cordura

Inappropriate?I'd use Cordura as a pillow over X-pac. Cordura ages really well - it takes on character - whereas X-pac is a more industrial high-performance fabric. If you're going for more of a lifestyle bag, I'd go with Cordura and save X-pac for you more technical (super light weight) adventures.
I’m sleeping on Cordura
