Inappropriate?This is a neat idea. Del Forte Denim, a designer jeans company, has been running a recycling program like this to great effect [http://delforte.com/rejeaneration]. They actually reinvent the old jeans as a new product they call Rejeaneration. In return for sending in your old jeans, Del Forte gives the sender 10% off their next pair of Del Forte jeans.
I'm not sure if similar dynamics could work with Timbuk2 as a much larger operation that Del Forte. But it's good to see great ideas flowing.
