Inappropriate?I've seen a few folks who LOVE the metro as a camera bag.
A customer recently purchased a Eula (similar capacity, different shape) from Timbuk2 and showed how they hacked it into a camera bag:

We'd love to see how you organize your camera bag. If you have the chance to take a few pics and use flickr, you can just tag it "camerabag" and "timbuk2".

Inappropriate?I've used my metro as a camera bag too! You just need to get an insert (I happen to have a domke 1 compartment insert that fits the D40x perfectly) or wrap a t-shirt around the camera. Using an insert protects the camera a little better and compartmentalizes the bag. Just to be on the safe side, you might want to mod the insert to prevent it or the camera from popping out of the bag.
