International shipping--make it cheaper, pretty please!
Just a suggestion--shipping wise
Hey there, this is more for the people at Timbuk2 than a proper question (thanks for giving customers such an easy way to leave feedback!)
I just wanted to say it would be really nice if you could find a way to send the bags internationally using a shipping method that costs a bit less than the 50 dollars listed now. I mean I would have been buying it using a card attached to a euro-based account, but it is still to expensive for me! I would have definitely bought a bag now, because there are so many I love--they're great because they have long straps which I need because I'm pretty tall--but I can't afford so much shipping!
ah well, just thought I'd let you know because if you get told by enough people, you could take the comms to the post office and wave them in front of them saying 'we got disappointed potential customers here!!' or something lol.
Bye!
By the way I added the bag builder as this is probably the one I'd have bought! I love how you can customize things a bit with these bags, you don't have to limit yourself to the few colors someone chose for you! It's neat.

We live in Australia and would love to buy several of your bags but the shipping is far too much. Happy to wait a fortnight or more for goods if cheaper to ship. Please let us know if there is an alternative method that is a little cheaper. Thank you!

Inappropriate?Totally agreed. I have an $80 Timbuk 2 credit- and am moving to Germany on Monday. I can't pay $50 to ship a $50 bag. There are many obvious options available that would be considerably cheaper, and I can't understand why you would insist on deterring (and screwing over) your international customers. Right now my only option is to ship a bag to a friend and then have them ship it to me, which is time consuming, inefficient, and also unnecessarily expensive. So now my credit is worth exactly nothing.
I’m dissapointed and annoyed

Exactly...
After ordering a bag, I realized I would like to get an additional straps pad, but a quick glance shows that the shipping itself is almost 5x the cost of the item. In the end, it's not worth it (for a separate order). -
Inappropriate?Amen! I know it is common policy for many US "gear" sellers to utilize only expensive UPS options. However, I have received a number of items from the US here in France sent via the postal service and never had a problem.

Inappropriate?try these sites, they also sell Timbuk2 bags:

Inappropriate?how about Timbuk2 sending/shipping the bags internationally utilizing USPS rather than UPS?
would that make the shipping charges more affordable?
but then tracking and delivery confirmation will be compromised.
I’m unsure
-
That would be cheaper--and at least in France you can track the packages. I ended up buying a bag from REI as suggested above. My big problem with UPS is the additional 20€ they charge here to clear customs even when your package does not incur and duty or taxes. With USPS, you only need to pay a (smaller) surcharge IF your package incurs taxes/duties. I've only had that happen once in about 15 packages from the US. -
Inappropriate? We all agree UPS is not an ideal provider for international shipments, and yeah the customs charges are frighteningly high. Unfortunately we don't have the volume to support alternative ship methods at this time. I'm sure it's a case of chicken or the egg at this point. Our international order volume is low because we don't have a better and less expensive shipping option for international customers and we can't support alternate ship methods because we have such low order volume.
We used to offer a consolidated shipping method that was far less expensive but terribly unreliable and that distributor is now out of business. We tried moving our shipments to a freight forwarder the following year and then they too went out of business. Clearly UPS isn't going anywhere and since they handle our domestic shipments we've stuck with them for the last couple years.
I personally agree USPS is our best alternative and with the feedback here the idea may get some traction with our Operations team. Thanks for all the input.
I’m thinking USPS is a good alternative.

Inappropriate?Just curious - what are the dimensions of the packages, say, for the classic messenger M or the laptop messenger M? It helps to lower shipping costs if packages are kept as compact as possible!
-
Inappropriate?Same thing here. It is very difficult to find Timbuk2 dealers in Switzerland, and most have only a limited set of bags. I would like to order direct from the US, but the shipping price is much too high. Couldn't you have a "low cost" delivery mechanism, e.g. one month by steamboat for a decent price ?
-
Inappropriate?no timbuk2 dealers in argentina and between the shipping cost and the taxes i don ́t want to pay 3 times the price of the bag i want. :(
I’m sad
