The final word on Macbook Aluminum and the Small Classic Messenger & Laptop Messenger

I'm planning to buy a small classic messenger (laptop or classic) to use with my Macbook aluminum. I have been a avid promoter of Timbuk2 bags for over a decade but I confess I'm confused. I have seen contradictory reports about whether these bags will work with the new Macbook but I'm not interested in the medium-sized bag (already have one of those). So, if you could answer the following questions, I can get to buying my bag without concern.

1) I have read that the although the stock small laptop messengers do not fit the new Macbook (w 12.8" x h 9" x thk 1") that the custom ones do. And the website clearly indicates that the custom dimensions will fit the laptop in question. Is this true?

2) I have read here that people have comfortably used the small classic messenger with the new macbook inside a neoprene sleeve. Is this accurate? The stated dimensions on the website (w 14.5" x h 9.8" x depth 5.3") would seem to indicate that the new macbook would fit easily. Am I missing something?

3) I'm also interest in the small Matrix Fabric classic messenger. Is there any concern with this bag that I should be aware of? Will it likewise fit my macbook aluminum and neoprene sleeve?
