Wayward Student Needs Bag ASAP
I've been going crazy trying to figure out which bag to get. I'm a student, so I do carry books, but I'm also a petite 5'3 with back problems, so it's really important that the bag that I carry is not too heavy. Basically, I am looking for a bag that is appropriately sized and won't hurt my back.
also, I had the medium laptop messenger and I had to return it because it was too heavy

Inappropriate?I have a size small messenger and I find it perfect for daily university. I can fit my clipboards and one big textbook (2") or two smaller ones, and also the small items I need along with me (daily planner, water bottle, pens/pencils etc.). With that much it is filled. If you need to carry much more, I'm not sure a small would work...I still have a backpack I sometimes use when I'm heading for a long library study session and need lots of textbooks/food/water.
Oh, by the way I'm about 5'4" (female) and the small looks pretty good just for a normal bag. I feel uncomfortable schlepping around a huge bag (people just think its weird- we're students not bike messengers!) but this one looks pretty normal/briefcase sized.
I’m hoping this helps.

Inappropriate?Hi,
Have you tried www.careerbags.com? They have a great variety of stylish bags in great colors and a good range of prices! -
Inappropriate?I am also petite (5'2" and 115) and literally ordered/returned four bags after my cool Korean backpack died. All of the bags looked ridiculous and were somewhat uncomfortable because they were too wide for my back, hitting me in the back of the head, or riding too low on my back. And I needed a decent-sized backpack to fit my 15" MacBook Pro.
I was thrilled to find that this "Timbuk2 Hacker Backpack" fit me perfectly. After much trial and error with the bags I tried from Amazon, Zappos, and eBags, the key is to not go wider than 12" or longer than 16" in order to fit your petite back.

Note: I don't even try to use messenger bags since I am so small...no way for them to be ergonomic or well-balanced once stuffed with books and a laptop. I don't need to walk too far before my back starts hurting.
I’m happy to have fixed this problem myself

Inappropriate?Well first off do you need a laptop holder? They are great! Though you should remember that not only does the laptop add to the bag's weight, but the laptop armor built inside the bag adds extra weight too.
I am 5'1" and small messenger fits me pretty well. I suggest using the cross strap too because that helps distribute the weight.
A backpack is a good bag to help you distribute the weight more evenly across your body. I personally dig the Hacker for its configuration, and it does have a laptop holder in it. -
Inappropriate? If you go to www.Careerbags.com there is a function called "try this bag on". it is available for many of the products. You can click on your height and see how the bag will look on someone that is petite. Works like a charm...
