When will Large Commutes Be For Sale Again?!?!?!
When will you guys have large standard ballistic Commutes for sale again? I've been constantly checking for atleast two months now. I want to give Timbuk2 more of my money! Hehe. I recently bought a custom large classic messenger, and now I need a new large Commute for my 17" laptop. I know you have the grown, the hemp, and a few other custom fabrics but I'd prefer something more colorful. I've seen a few sellers that have the large Commute, but only in all black.

Inappropriate?I'm afraid I'm not going to have any good news for you on this. Unfortunately we are out of the Large Commutes until September (yikes!) and the only color that we have in the ballistic material in large is black. Now for the good news, the Commute for Spring 2009 will come in four new colors in large, unfortunately this will not help you in the short term as these will not be available until around January of 2009. Hopefully you can find something that you like now or wait until the new stuff rolls out. -

Inappropriate?REI.com has the Large Commute in a Rust-Grey-Rust color combo, and it is currently on sale (as of 21Aug2008). I picked this bag up at an REI store and I like it, but I have a 15.4" Lenovo laptop and it BARELY fits in the laptop compartment. I bought it thinking that I'd upgrade to a 17" laptop in the future, but I don't see any way that a 17" is going to fit. :(

Inappropriate?Well, the HP 17" may fit. I have a Lenovo T60p 15.4" with the extended life battery. The width (widest dimension) seems to fit OK, with a wee bit of clearance, but the height (next widest dimension) is very tight, due to the extended life battery giving it about an extra inch--the zipper zips very tight over it. The HP 17" may actually fit within this envelope. You may want to try it first. I actually love the bag itself, but I'm sure it will be snug if I ever get a monster 17" laptop.
