Where can I buy some fabric?
I want to make some modifications to my Classic Messenger, but I need some fabric to do it (I'm an experienced seamstress and want to add a few things...) but I would really like to get some Condura fabric (in Blue Slate would be the best...) so that it will match? I've tried online, but the best I can find is plain black.
As far as the modifications go I would like to add an outer pocket to the back of the bag, covering the entire back and with an open top- I have found this design VERY hand in the past and would just like to have it there! Also I think I am going to add two more clips to the bottom of my large messenger so that I can compress it a little more when its not jam-packed with stuff. Speaking of which- what size are the clips already on the bag?
Also- what size needle do you use in the factory, and should a regualr sewing machine be able to handle putting my bag back togather? (I don't want it to end up like humpty dumpty!)
Thanks and I'll be sure to post pictures when I'm done.

Inappropriate?Hey There! I am newer here at T2, but I did my college work in textiles. I can give you some general tips and info on altering your bag. I would look for Cordura at Precision Technical Sewing 650-856-2128 in Palo Alto or Naraen's Outdoor in Berkeley 510-527-2509. As far as matching colors I am unsure how you will do. The buckles are 1". As for sewing I have worked with a standard 1987 Singer Home Machine with a basic heavy duty needle and button hole thread on courdura and webbing and it works pretty well. I just have to go slowly and be ready to break some needles. Now the TPU for the lining I haven't worked with. If I get to this weekend I will let you know. Obviously an industrial sewing machine would be ideal....
Good luck I'd love to see the pictures!
