Direct FTP Upload from the Client
Can you guys make it possible to upload directly to FTP from the client as an option to bypass your servers / web interface? Sometimes, screenshots contain sensitive information I would rather not be on your servers ( usernames, IP addresses, company-proprietary information ).

This will continue to improve over time and all of your suggestions here are being taken into account.

As you may be aware, TinyGrab currently supports custom FTP uploads. The way it does this is by you entering your FTP details into the online control panel, when you take a grab our API then posts these messages to your FTP server. This process is being re-written to tidy it up, but we believe that going via our API simplifies things.
We've gone with the decision of Custom FTP through the Web Interface/API so that no matter where you logon with your TinyGrab account, your preferences are always the same. If you go to work, you switch onto a Windows machine, or use your iPhone. TinyGrab remembers where to send your images.
In the upgrade to the way that TinyGrab handles Custom FTP images, we shall be including an option for you not to have this grab included in your control panel. Posting straight to your server and bypassing our cataloguing process.

Inappropriate? So in this upgrade, users would have the option to not have the images stored on your servers?
-
Inappropriate?Exactly. Got it in one. Currently we store 'snapshots' of your image on our server, in order to keep our Control Panel constant and to remove the risk of broken links. This shall not be the case after our Upload Process upgrade.
An announcement shall be made when the upgrade has taken place.

Inappropriate?Sounds like this is extremely insecure as is, what if your website was breached. That data (FTP Info) has be to stored somewhere, I guess a hacker could get FTP info for many sites. Ouch
I’m Worried
-
Inappropriate?I think it's fine to store the destination url on your servers, but I would really appreciate support for sftp/scp and to have the TinyGrab client use my local ssh credentials. URLs safe, credentials not safe.

Inappropriate? As Duncan Beevers notes, SSH-based transfers are preferable. Simpler, safer and easier to implement (unless you want support for plain text auth, then you better think twice as you'll need to fiddle with terminal emulation or use libssh). I would probably buy a license if you had an SCP option and ids packed as base-62.

Inappropriate?Thanks!
This feature persuaded me to buy a premium account.
Now still waiting for the secure uploads though... don't like having an unencrypted password for a unix account traveling the net :-)
I’m thankful
