Problem with selected area and dual screens on Windows.
I don't know if this applies to Mac as well, my Mac only has one screen.
In Windows with the primary screen on the right, selected area screen grabs shifted to the left by the width of the left screen. If I select anything on the right of my main screen I just get black.
Full screen and active window shots work fine and the problem doesn't happen if the primary screen is on the left.
If it matters, my screens aren't the same size, I have a 17" in portrait next to a 24" widescreen.

Inappropriate?I got the same problem... The capture is shifted when I try to capture a part of the screen, it captures a different part. i am on dual montior with windows 7 64-bit and my task bar is on the left side of my screen and my montiors are different size and one is vertical.
