I am a photographer and every time I shoot a wedding or do a portrait session, there is a set list of tasks for each customer. Its the same list of tasks for every wedding or portrait session. It would be great if I could make a custom task template. Say for instance, I do a senior portrait session. I would go in and select the "senior session" template, add a descriptive name and then it would automatically add all the tasks and their respective due dates below it based on the date the template task was entered.
Hope this makes sense. I'm sure many would benefit from this feature. Anyone who provides some service or product that involves several standard tasks spread out over several days weeks or months, this would be a huge time saver I would think.

Me too david, I have the same issue and requested this last year in uservoice. I'm a wedding photographer and have a ton of recurring to-dos that are the same for each client.
What would be great would be a 'copy to project' option in the menu, beneath 'move to project'. that way todoist could be kept simple without having a template feature and we would be able to create complex, nested to-dos and just copy them to each client project.
I went back to my old task management systems the other day as they offer duplication of projects / tasks. That's the only thing really stopping me from using this.
Come on everyone - simple feature, doesn't bloat, offers repetitive task management. Click the yellow button up there!

law.jimenez December 24, 2009 03:25ABSOLUTELY agree with this point. I use the same "checklist" for my client cases (I'm a lawyer) and I would love to be able to "copy to project"- at first I thought "move to project" did the same thing, but I realized that it actually "cuts" it, not copies it. A "copy to project" option would be absolutely fantastic!EditDeleteRemove

Great idea - essential, but the difference is that my target date is (practically) the end of the Project and all the Tasks are time-related to the end-date. Just a couple come afterwards (like "Invoice client"). Each of my Projects has a minimum of 25 Tasks, and I'm potentially doing 3 or 4 Projects per week.

YES, YES, YES....I find myself always coming back to TODOIST for it's efficient and effective simplicity, but I would LOVE templates. I'm a wedding photographer as well. thanks. michael

still no movement?
come on, this should be really simple to implement. just a copy to project option in the contextual menu (below move to another project).
Any chance by year's end Amir? Can I throw some cash your way via paypal to get this done please? -

Absolutely great idea. Amir - it would be more than sufficient for me to simply be able to "Clone" project.

cloning would be AWESOME

yep, simple copy/paste or cloning would be sweet

I particularly would like to be able to create Tags quicker, compared to typing them out each time. I have about 4 tags per task now and need to add more, so maybe a template feature would help this.

I'd love an auto-complete for tags. That way it would recognize the tag as a began to type it, and then I could just hit enter.

This single point, plus collapsible sub-lists that todoist already has, is totally what i'm looking for. I'm a web developer and I have extensive checklists that are exactly the same for every project. I'm not going to use todoist until this feature happens, cause i need something that will SAVE me time. And writing mega lists won't do that. Hope it happens soon!

I also am in need of the ability to create task list templates for each of our guests that book our vacation rentals. By being able to create a to do list "template" that I can then convert into a specific project or task list for each guest then I can link to that list in my CRM database under that contact and it makes things go smoothly.
This functionality is available in Basecamp by 37 Signals (free 30-day trial) and I really love it, but I don't know that I can justify paying the $24.99/mo. after that just for that feature alone as I wouldn't really be using any of the other Basecamp project management features.
Update: the FREE version of Basecamp looks like it works for this purpose -
