Inappropriate?Hi
This feature will be enabled in the upcoming days. I have disabled it due to some upgrades.
Amir -
Please don't disable features that we use. I know you are going to turn this particular feature back on. But as a rule, I hope that future changes and improvements minimize taking away existing features that we are used to.
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?lindyboi is SO right! Amir's response was a week ago - long time if you have lots of entries and forget where you put one.
Don't see why an upgrade - which MUST be worked on without disturbing the currently used system - would require a current feature to be turned off. When an upgrade is ready provide suitable notification if current features change and then install complete upgrade. Do not change the current system without (a) notification of change (and only in an emergency such as a security flaw), and (b) provide a work-around as soon as possible.
Please and Thank you!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I simply agree with other users. This is very painful as I'm a subscriber and use Todoist throughout the day... Without search, I'm having a very hard time...
This is a key feature and causing much grief... and it's been broken for a week!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I have ordered a new database server, but there is some problems regarding the setup. I hope this feature can be up in a number of days.
Thanks for your patience and I am sorry about the frustrations this causes.
Kind regards,
Amir -
Inappropriate? You should post a notice about this in news. Then at least we won't have to waste time working out what's going on and coming here to find out.
I’m annoyed
-
Inappropriate?Todoist is no longer a free-only service. As long as people pay for it they should at least be made aware when things they pay for don't work right.
I also lost half an hour figuring out why search isn't working.

Inappropriate?Amir,
I would appreciate an update on if and when this issue will be resolved.
I have come to depend on Todoist in general and the full-text search/query feature in particular. If, for whatever reason, this problem will not be fixed soon, I will--regrettably--need to move to a different task manager.
Thanks,
Rick -
Inappropriate?I am really sorry about this, the new Todoist database server is still underway :-( Anyway, I am going to notify the DC and hope they can speed up the process.
Amir -
Inappropriate?I don't think you get the idea. You don't say to paying customers that you "hope" THEY can speed up "the process". (WHAT process? And why aren't YOU involved.) And whatever IT is YOU should know what IT is and let US know about IT and how IT's progressing.
And besides, what does any of this have to do with the search function being disabled? Obviously SOME database server is up and functioning.
"Sorry" doesn't cut it after two weeks. Also, I would think by now that most of us are not at all comfortable with the coming online of a new server since obviously things have been handled so badly so far.
Don't know how long Rick K is willing to wait - but for me ... a few more days maybe. -
Inappropriate?CosmosVoyagerDU:
If you can't wait and you are pissed about the service then sign off premium.
The datacenter are still in the process of installing a new database server and it takes them loads of time. -
You are right - I was being intemperate. TODOIST is a great product and I will continue to use it. However, I think you overreacted to my saying "paying customers". I should have just said "regular users that depend on features they've come to depend on." Even so, I don't think that part of your original comment - that I received in my email - was appropriate. Nor do I think other users would have thought so. I'm glad you deleted it from your posted comment. All the best ... but keep the whip snapping. CMDU -
Inappropriate?Amir, I think you don't get it.
Nobody gives a f...[whatever you just edited out] about 3$ a month.
The problem is one of respect. When people are paying even 1c for a service they must at least be treated with respect. And you haven't shown todoist's customers (yes, we are customers) respect by not mentioning in any way that search is not working and then treating them in this way on the support forum.
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate?Amir,
I canceled my paypal payment. I got the email where you swore at us. I think others should cancel too. -
Inappropriate?I cleaned out my account. Remember the Milk will suit me just fine.
-
Inappropriate?Like I have stated a lot of times now: I can't control when this feature will become available again, because the problem is mostly with my datacenter and it pisses me off that people treat me like shit because they pay 3$ pr. month (this "incident" has happened before).
Understand that Todoist ISN'T a business and $3 pr. month is mostly to cover server costs, support and development - I don't get rich by this and it does not cover my bills.
I do try to do my best and provide the best service around. -
Amir,
why not make it a business? It's a really great product !
The problem is that I'm using it on a daily basis for my job, and I would be pretty pissed off if you once decided to shut it off, for a reason or another. Of course a business doesn't guarantee that it will live forever, and you might also consider to opensource it? Or sell it? Or joint-venture it? or whatever you may think is good for it?
All best -
Inappropriate?Ah, so Todoist isn't a business. Interesting, since your picture is labeled "employee". Think I will give my business - since you aren't one - to one that thinks it is.
So TOODLEDO... which incidentally charges less than you do - and seems to think of itself as a business.
I’m disgusted...
-
Inappropriate?I don't picture myself as employee, I get this title automatically from Get Satisfaction.
This is the last response from me on this message and I'll do anything in my power to bring back query search as soon as possible.

While we're waiting for the server, is it possible to get us back to the way it was before you disabled the search feature for upgrades? Are you talking hardware or software upgrades?
At the moment I'm wasting chunks of time looking for stuff, and even the most basic level of searchability will help tremendously. -
Inappropriate? The status of this is that I will move Todoist to a new data center. I will announce more details and time in "What's new" of Todoist.
With this move, word searching will be re-enabled.
Kind regards,
Amir -
Inappropriate?I am currently in the process of installing new servers in the new data center :-)
-
That was good news, but then it went quiet. Holding our breath... :-| -
Inappropriate?don't let 'em get to you amir -- this is a great service you provide.
many thanks

Inappropriate? Now resolved (since the transfer to the new data centre). It also appears to work better than before: certain items I haven't been able to locate with a search, now pops up. Thanks.

Inappropriate? We have now solved this issue :)
