Toggl Desktop fails to login with 417 error
Help,
My Toggl Desktop doesn't log in any more - it fails with the error "Remote server returned an error (417) Expectation failed"
I have been away for a week and not used Toggl; prior to that it was okay. I am in Australia too, like other people who have mentioned a login error, but my problem seems different.
I have used Toggl desktop without problems for about 4 months and love it.
Any suggestions?

Inappropriate?Hmm, time seems to have resolved this problem. Several hours after I first experienced it, my xth attempt to log in succeeded (and without rebooting my computer).
So, all is now well. Still wonder what error 417 is!
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Glad to hear, that the problem dissapeared. Interesting error. We'll have to check what may have caused this 417 error.
-
Inappropriate?Hmm,
Same problem again today. So far I haven't been able to log in, after several attempts over a few hours.
If I knew what a 417 error meant, I might be able to decide how best to tackle it.
Have you change anything in the past week? It's odd that everything was fine until I had a break and stopped using Toggl for about 10 days....
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?Toggl Desktop hasn't changed during the last week, so probably a central server issue. In the meantime, while we find the cause of the 417 error, can you use the web-based timer? They (web-based timer and TDesktop) look and feel very similar.
-
Inappropriate?Well, thanks for that idea. Desktop is still a problem today, but at least I can record my time using the web-based timer. I'd forgotten about that! Thanks for the advice.
I'll keeping trying desktop and checking back here for updates. Thanks for your help.
I’m happier

Inappropriate?Any progress on this server question?
I'm using the web-based timer now but I used to like Toggl Desktop - it was so convenient!
Thanks.
I’m wondering

Inappropriate?Hey Aileen, how are you doing with Toggl Desktop? Is it working properly or does it still have the login issues?
-
Inappropriate?Hi Jaanus, when I last tried (one day last week) the problem was still happening.
But when I tried again today, prompted by your question - hey presto! It is now working!
Have you guys made a change, which caused you to ask the question? Or is it just coincidence?
Anyway, it is now working, fingers crossed!
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Hey Aileen!
Have you tried the new Toggl Desktop version 0.9.1 ? We made some changes there that should theoretically eliminate the possibility of those 417 errors.
