Inappropriate?Same for me. I've been using Toggl Timer Widget for quite a while but only now it stopped saving my login info even though I have the option "Remember me" checked. Wondering what am I am doing wrong.
I’m curious
-
Inappropriate?Hmm... that is weird. I just tested this problem on Windows and Mac and the "remember me" seems to work fine. Maybe the remember me got forgotten when you upgraded the version of the widget?
-
When I start up the widget, it does not log in, the username and password are blank, BUT the "Remember me" box is already checked ?!?! -
Inappropriate?Re-installed and the issue persists.
Username and password are blank, "Remeber me" is checked. -
Inappropriate? Thanks for the info, we'll be working on it!
-
Inappropriate? The "remember me" checkbox isn't working on my side either.
Wether I log in to Toggl from my browsers (tested with IE, Firefox and Chrome), or when I log in the widget.
It used to work fine a week ago, though.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I'm having the same problem. Every time I turn on my MacBook I have to resupply all my details and the remember me check box is NOT set by default. I've tried asking it to remember me every time but it doesn't want to. Hmmm
Firefox 3, Mac OS 10.5.5, Intel 2.4 GHz Core 2, MacBook Std
I’m interested
-
Inappropriate? Thanks for the information. We are still working on it, sorry for the delay.
-
Inappropriate?i also have the issue. i'm running windows vista 64 bit edition with toggl timer widget. also doesn't save my password on the toggl site, even when the remember me checkbox is selected.
-
Inappropriate? This appears to be fixed on Mac OS X for me now. The widget is remembering me and staying logged in just like I hoped. I have not tried on any windows systems.
iMac and MacBook, OS X 10.5.6
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?Daniel, are you using the old Adobe AIR widget or the new one?
The new one does not support "remember me" yet. -
We're using the new one's I think on Mac and Ubuntu. I see what you mean. On my Ubuntu widget there's a "remember me" option on the classic interface, but not on the nano interface. I assume it's the same for the Mac. -
Inappropriate? The new widget wont remember the password when in classic mode. I'm not running the Adobe Air widget, I'm running the new one but as the classic timer. This might be what you are already talking about.
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?Yes, the new widget does not support "remember me" yet. It will be added during the summer.

Inappropriate? The issue was fixed with the latest release
The company and 2 other people say
this solves the problem

Inappropriate?hi Alari,
This answer is not very satisfactory.
1) If something is "fixed with the latest release " I would at least expect you to name the product (since there has been renaming) and the version number:
"The issue was fixed in Toggl Desktop 2.0.0.3"
2) You also want to work on your communications at the download location https://www.toggl.com/public/widgets and explicitly _specify_ the current version number. I now have to download the setup package and run it before I can figure out what version is contained inside.
3) It is also harder than it should be to track down the version number of the Toggl Desktop software that is running locally.
The short story is:
Assuming you are implying it is fixed with Toggl Desktop 2.0.0.3 then I have to report that the issue is not fixed. I get to type in everything again each time, remember me check box or not.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Hi Alari,
I fully support Eoan's points 1) and 2). The sooner you fix that the more professional you appear. 3) I do not understand (right-click on the icon - "About" does the trick), maybe Eoan is missing a menu entry in the desktop tool itself.
As for the remember function here is my experience:
I started ToggleDesktop 2.0.0.3 on Windowx XP SP3, checked the "Remember Me" check box and logged in. Then I closed the TogglDesktop window. Then I did right-click - "Exit" on the icon. Then I checked the Task Manager to see that no TogglDesktop process is running. Then I started ToggleDesktop again, and voila - I am logged in again fully automatically.
However, I suspect that this remember function does not work when you reboot in between, but I do not have the time to reproduce this now.
I’m unconcerned
-
Inappropriate?Hi,
1) indeed I found out about "About" in the tray-icon-context-menu just minutes too late to edit my previous post :)
I was not finding the function in the actual window itself, so had to revert to either checking the dll version number; or Support Information from the toggl entry in the Add/Remove programs dialog. And this was obviously too deep given that it was right under my nose. So: I withdraw that third comment.
2) Frank's comment on how the remember function works also has helped me: I _never_ exit the program but allow it to sit in the system tray when I don't need it. Apparently the remember me option only goes into effect when you explicitly 'exit' the program (and when you shut down/reboot indeed it apparently does not 'exit').
So that worked for me but I believe it would be more logical to save the preference when it is being set (at logon time) rather than deferring it till when another function (exit) is invoked, which may well be ... never.
Again: thanks Frank.
I’m thankful

this solves the problem

Yeah, that was happening for me too. It would be good if it stored your login details as soon as you enter them rather than waiting for the application to exit. I hardly ever exit it either. Now I know why "remember me" suddenly started working. -
Good point! Will be fixed with the next release. -
Great thanks... Now if you would only also communicate that message as "This behaviour will be fixed in Toggl Desktop 2.0.0.4" then I would see _all_ my points addressed :p -
Inappropriate?Glad I could help. Just to add to my last reply: The "Remember Me" function also does work after reboots for me. So all is fine ;-)
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?I'm sad to report that I'm right back at square one with toggl desktop 2.0.4.0
Not only will it _not_ remember me "normally" (so after reboot), moreover Frank Wegner's "trick" with doing an explicit "Exit" from the task tray has also stopped acting as a workaround.
Eoan
I’m wondering what the deal is here.
-
Inappropriate? The "remember me" feature broke with the last release. It will be fixed today!
Sorry for the inconveniences. -
Inappropriate? The remember me issue has now been fixed.
-
Seems I have to repeat myself like a broken record.
1) I really do appreciate that you worked very hard to fix the problem so quickly. But if something "has now been fixed " I would at least expect you to mention the version number it was fixed in, and perhaps not to mention this at all if that version has not been released yet. As long as I cannot download something that fixes the issue, the issue is not fixed for me, is it?
2) You also want to work on your communications at the download location https://www.toggl.com/public/widgets and explicitly _specify_ the current version number. I now have to download the setup package and run it before I can figure out what version is contained inside. (which I did twice today to find it was still 2.0.4.0) -
Thanks, John, for the suggestions.
1) The fix was on the server side. Than means there is nothing to download and install since the Toggl Desktop just shows the new content automatically and the version number remains the same. I should have mentioned that with my "now fixed" comment.
2) The reason why we haven't specified any version numbers on the download page is that we figure there is no need for them. Every time we upgrade Toggl Desktop (launch a new version) the Toggl Desktop itself will notify the user about the new version and even downloads the installer. However, we'll think about your suggestion.
