Toggl Widget Stopped Working
I've discovered Toggl a month ago and love it. It's at home on my Mac and at work on my PC... However today things don't work out so well.
When launching the new Toggl widget (downloaded today) I get a blank window and nothing happens.
When launching the old toggl widget (downloaded a month ago) I cannot login: it tells me my user name or password is incorrect (I get the same error message with Toggl Desktop)
When using the same user name and password on firefox I have not problem at all.
As background information:
Last week Toggl widget (the old one) was working perfectly fine. Today it does not work anymore. I am using Toggl in a company wich strict network policy (they might have blocked a port Toggl Widget uses).
I run Windows XP
I use my gmail account to sign-in
The following could help me:
If the widget uses a special port, knowing which one it is I could check with my IT dept and see if they changed it over the week-end
If it's not a port problem then a solution would be nice (cache maybe?)
Thanks,
M.

Inappropriate?Hi Michael. The widget does not use a special port, only http and https.
Just to be sure, when you try to log in to the widget, do you use your Google account or Toggl account? The Google signin is supported only on the main website of Toggl, not in the gadgets of desktop applications. -
Inappropriate?Jaanus,
The problem above went away. Now I have 2 problems:
Problem #1: When using the old toggl widget the information is not saved: I see "saving..." written at the bottom of the widget and nothing else. I know it's not saving because when I went to Toggl on the web I had a nice dashboard telling me I hadn't logged any time this week... Everything was working fine last Friday. That's problem #1
Problem #2: the new widget doesn't start. I simply see a blank window with a black icon in the desktop toolbar. By new I mean the widget released this week-end, with off-line capability.
Any clue?
Thanks,
Michael
I’m confused

Inappropriate? We had a launch on last Friday and unfortunately a bug slipped in. Tasks we're not correctly saved when using the classic Timer. We have now fixed this issue.
The Toggl Team is very sorry for the inconveniences we have caused you. -
This reply was removed on 07/13/09.

Inappropriate?Hi there,
I just started using Toggle yesterday and today I have the same problem.
I use the normal (no classic?) toggl widget on Vista Enterprise (32bit) and it just shows an blank window. I tried to restart it, but they same.
I use my GoogleMail address as toggle (!) username + toggle password (so not yet connected to GoogleMail), that's it so far what I can say about it...
Any ideas?
I’m frustrated and in need of the Toggl widget!

Hello, is the problem still occurring? -
Can't give a definite answer on that, because I don't use it anymore. ;-)
It just crashed as your update message came! Now it currently works, although it had to load. -
Inappropriate?I had the same problem. I think the Toggl servers were overloaded or had other problems because I couldn't log into the web site either. But all better now.
-
Inappropriate?I get this problem about 50% of the time when I do a Refresh from the Timer Widget.
I’m undecided
-
Inappropriate?Michael, is the widget working correctly now?
-
Inappropriate?I upgraded to the latest Toggl widget on Windows XP SP3 yesterday. The window is empty when I start the widget. When I do right-mouse-click "Refresh" the widget crashes. I did check my Windows firewall and Toggl is added as exception. How can this be fixed?

Hi Frank, we released a new widget yesterday. Is the problem still occurring? -
Inappropriate?Frank, the Widget is downloading it's contents when the window is empty. Did you try both timers: the Nano and the classic timer?
-
Jaanus, Nano timer works fine. When i change the view to classic it goes blank immediately. This also applies to the log-on screen. When I change the view back to nano all is showing up ok. But I really do prefer the classic view. How can I get this working? - My current workaround: I use the "pop-out" view of the classic timer from the toggl website. But it would be much nicer to have the widget working again. Please do let me know when this is fixed. Thanks. -
Thanks for the comment. We'll get working on this issue! -
Hi Jaanus, do you have any estimate about when this is fixed? Should I hold my breath and check every week? Will I get notified when the fix is available? Thanks, F -
Inappropriate?Hey Alari, hey Jaanus, I downloaded the new widget just now, and it works. I can use the classic timer again. I do thank you very much for your swift reaction!
I’m happy

Very nice. Sorry for the long delay with the fix. -
Inappropriate?hmm, I just downloaded the latest Widget for OSX (0.3.5.1) and I did get a "white page" upon reload, too. Seems to be a sporadic problem. Restarting the widget fixed it for now.
