Inappropriate?First, make sure your speakers are not muted and working correctly by playing a song in iTunes or similar music service. If your speakers are working, ask the people you're speaking with to check their microphone is working.

Two things:
1. Upgrade to a recent version of Flash here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/downlo...
2. Login to the site & then go to cam/mic settings to detect your cam and mic(left sidebar); this can also be done using the 'Settings'
button in the call window.
If the issue is you can't hear the other person, then you would need to have them basically do the same thing. The issue here is that the mic settings aren't being picked up on some side, or someone has their mic/speaker muted.
