TomTom has discontinued the TomTom GO SDK

We herewith inform you that TomTom has discontinued the TomTom GO SDK. This means that TomTom will discontinue the release of any new updates for the TomTom GO SDK and we will keep supporting the current TomTom GO SDK until its end of life for our existing customers. Due to this the TomTom GO x10 serial cable has also been discontinued.
    With kind regards,
    The TomTom PRO support team

    Dear Mr XXX,

Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.

We have received a fair amount of feedback from end-users regarding the SDK: this feedback has been forwarded to the technical department for further evaluation. Although we cannot promise you anything, your feedback and that of others will be taken into consideration.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

    With Best Regards

I'm betting that's the kind of response I get here, but Rob Lazzurs wanted me to start a thread about it.

Dash Express is pwning TomTom in the apps category, but they have their own monthly fee for internet. If TomTom using the data connection could run apps that access your coords, like the Dash does, it would be a competitor in that field. However, TomTom has decided they're not interested in a growing portion of the market, apparently? It makes me regret, very much, deciding to spend $500 on a new TomTom Go 720 last November when I was getting lost in a new town (which I now live in, was home-hunting) and couldn't wait for NewEgg to deliver.

Also, the Dash has WiFi so that you don't have to always use a cell connection, something I wish the TomTom did so I could setup a small local area network in the car to convert from 3G, EDGE, EVDO, or whatever to the standard WiFi and let the TomTom use that, since I have no way to turn it into a Bluetooth Modem connection. But that's a different thing, kinda.

Why does the mobile phone hands free of my Tom Tom bought in the US not work in the UK. The Tom Tom sees the bluetooth connection but when it tries to load the preferences it gets to 40% download and then fails. I can't make calls or anything. Help!
