Time goes bye and no changes. Tom tom still gets lost in space
Do the maps update automatic? If so how many freaking years pass before they update? I spent $600. 3 years ago for an old out dated map of North America

Inappropriate?Hello Snuggy,
If you install the TomTom HOME client on your computer and connect your TomTom to that you will be prompted to update the software and be offered the option of purchasing new and updated maps. If you do not have the HOME client that was shipped with the CD in the box (I know I have lost my CD) then you can download it from the TomTom home page.
If there is anything else I can do to help please let me know :)
I’m being useful...I hope!

Inappropriate? The TomTom Home installer is also on the TomTom itself. You can connect it to your computer with a USB cable, answer yes to connect to your computer, and when the TomTom is mounted as a flash drive, you'll find the installer on the flash drive. It's a good idea to run chkdsk (Windows) or disk utility's repair disk (MacOSX) on the TomTom while it's plugged in and remember to eject the flash drive before unplugging the TomTom, otherwise, the filesystem may be corrupted resulting in either sporadic reboots or just plain not working.
When you buy the unit and enter the activation code, it gives you something like one, two or three months during which you can download the latest maps for free. If you've never used your TomTom Home in the three years that you've had your TomTom, you might want to try entering the activation code in the TomTom Home to see if it will let you download the latest maps.
