What are you working on right now Tonium? are your Priorities same than ours?
Hi Tonium
I know this thread is a shot in the dark as from past experience you've never revealed your work and future upgrades until you're about to release them but I'll try anyway.
Looking at the Forums, users priorities seems to be the following.
BPM lock
Vinyl/scratch mode
Flanger FX
Being able to use FX on both decks at the same time.
Wavforms
I'm sure I've missed some but these are the main one i've noticed
My personal ones are BPM lock and Wavforms.
Any chance you could tell us what you're looking at at the moment?
I know that I've probably wasted my time writing this thread but you'll never know.

Hi Friends,
As Mats has earlier pointed out, we truly appreciate your ideas, but also that you share your concerns with us. No doubt!
Regarding new upgrades, both firmware/software and hardware, this is something a company in our position always have to think about.
When it comes to firmware and software upgrades, this, of course, is much easier than making a change in hardware. Still, even if software upgrades are much easier, it takes time to develop and test. First of all we need to find the right effect etc. to focus on. On our behalf we preferably choose an upgrade that we believe most people are asking for. Then development takes over, and finally testing. Saying this, we never focus on just one effect or enhancement. As a result, we can ́t release a new software or firmware every month. I hope that you understand the time this takes and the decisions that we need to take along the way for an upgrade to reach the market and you guys.
Talking about hardware, this is a bit more tricky. To develop an brand new Pacemaker will take time. The current version took about 2 years to develop. As said earlier, we keep looking towards the future to define our path forward. We also understand that our current product has a certain lifetime, and before the end of that we wish to have something new for you!
Now, to the core issue in my opinion. Communication. We strive to keep you updated at all times and through this forum also give technical support. Sometimes there is not much to say, and sometimes we have a lot to say.
We understand that you are eager, which we still appreciate, to find out more about our future plans. But some things will still have to remain our own little secrets for a while.
I will leave you hanging off this huge cliff, but we will tell you more when we are certain that an upgrade will reach the market!
Until then, keep your good ideas coming...cause we are listening!
All the best,
Richard

Inappropriate?If you don't ask you don't get.
Go on Tonium, share the wealth . . .
I’m not holding my breath!

Inappropriate?Forgot the "already played" warning
-
Inappropriate?Hello Regis !
Good question !
The mixer mode for me is mandatory !
Don't care about the BPM lock I'm a "use your ears" promoter ;)))
I’m confident
-
I use my hears as well but it doesn't stop the constent BPM algorithm fluxuating, you don't have that on the CDJ's where 1 or 2 adjustments are needed but not on the PMD where you to constantly adjust the beats. -
Inappropriate?Real integration with iTunes! Quickest way to better library management. Existing way to manage tunes on the device is really clunky. I'm using a portion of my 120GB (wish I bought the cheaper one, now) because it's hard to manage.
-
Who cares about itunes. Support tunes not players -
Inappropriate?yeh tonium what are ya working on, how about the requests we've asked for. Or are you lot on summer holidays or something, we haven't hassled ya for a bit so it's time to get the working gear back on and sort us out some goodies
-
Inappropriate?damn,22 days ago Regis asked e question to you TONIUM Guys and NO ONE REPLY,What Kind Of Forum Is This By Ignoring Them
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? So if some of our request and needs like BPM lock, being able to use FX & base on both decks at the same time, Flanger FX, Wavform ect aren't in the "Ideas In Consideration" section, that means that we're not likely to get what we would like on the PMD?
At least we know what Tonium isn't working on or considering.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Yeah?! wtf??!!! all these precious hours spent deliberating and suggesting improvements is falling on deaf ears? A straight answer would be far more effective than silence Tonium! Concentate on satisfying your existing customers.
I’m calling Tonuim's bluff!
-
Inappropriate?Well from the first time i saw tonium employees replies i knowed that it's the kind of companies who don't provide a good customer service and just neglect the Users Tonium U will never one day become a leading DJ company awfully if u keep like this ... Sorry to say Pacemaker for me is a useless DJ equipment since it's not a Decks and not a good beatmatching envirnoment soo it's A piece of plastic with montior nothing more maybe it's jjust like a new Ipod idea :S ........
Shssh in that
-
Inappropriate?to be fair it's more than an ipod and it's pretty much the same as having 2 cdj's plugged in to a mixer, but portable, lot of us here have done some pretty good mixes and played out with it, but on the other hand......
On the customer service front, yes there completely shit, maybe there so stuck up there own arses that they frankly don't give a monkeys what their customer s think.
They've got your money now and ya ain't sent it back so welcome to the world of us long term owners, same ol bitching, no replies, no updates, flaky firmware, no long term upgrade plans.
Welcome to the world of Tonium, they've all pissed off to the carribean with ya cash and are now drinking large cocktails.
Let's Mix, oh wait the p-buttons fallen off ;-), sorry we can't fix ya PMD you'll have to buy a new one -
well I can't Handle the Pacemaker as a real decks and no one can compare a real decks to pacemaker,Tell now Pacemaker don't have the main things related to any CD player and nothing special about it + no easy of use ... User friendly interface or ability like decks ... -
Inappropriate?Hi there
We appreciate all your ideas of how to improve the Pacemaker and will take these suggestions under consideration.
Sorry for the extremely long delayed answer, we will try to improve our response time on this forum.
Thank you -
Inappropriate?OK mats A Sorry word don't help in this situation , Just we want to have more clear idea about what is going on with this device not to tell US after this long time We Will try to improve our response RATHER Than saying we are working on imporving our product ??
-
Inappropriate?Hi
Of course we are working on improving our product and your suggestions will help the device to be even better, but i cannot give you an exact time frame about this.
Your suggestions is always appreciated.
Thank you -
Inappropriate?Ok mats first thanks for the fast replay this time, but there are some points i hope we can get clear about it , The Next updates will be done for the framework/software but not for the hardware??? can u just tell us if tonium want to change the PMD hardware or not? and I don't think that will be fair because the PMD is still sooo new and tonium can get a lot out of it since the framework is upgradable, but new device looks like it make the current Device go down...
Second for how far our suggestions is being take under tonium considerations I mean couple of new modifications can stop this angry mob for while ... like we said before good BPM analyzer,BPM Locker,Some new effects,etc... implementing such things is really easy since ur modifiy not building from zero and also Software Engineers should have A full idea about Audio/sound Theory ...
Cheers...... -
Inappropriate?According to Stuff Magazine in the UK this month rumours are a new Pacemaker is due during 2010. I personally am happy about this as the original device is two years old as long as our ideas will be included such as solid state device (or removeable storage). Replaceable battery, better crossfader, sratching ability, better BPM analysis, better Vu meters etc. etc.....

Inappropriate? Thanks for your answer Richard. I understand your point of view on firmware frequencies, for your defense, Apple only does 1 by year ;)
-
Inappropriate?well In SOFTWARE ENGINEERING WE SAY THE BEST WAY IS THE INCREMENTAL , SO WE HAVE BASE Level 0 and then Make INCEREMENTAL UPGRAGES so the people will get smething every while :) ... Looks like micrsoft Always Have An Incremental Upgrades they don't make it All in 1 Package Unless we have a service PACK ...
I hope even If they want to make a new hardware the Software/firmware Upgrades Work for both like Portable Sony Play Station They Make this idea and it work so you don't need to throw away ur old device :) It was an expensive since i bought 120GB ... So I will not be one of the people who recommand Hardware Change for the couple of years... -
Inappropriate?Well
As long they are listening to us, it will be ok
And long as there future upgrade release reflect our ideas put forward, it will be ok.
I'm just concerned that my current PMD will not see the basic DJ need. -
Inappropriate?To : Mats & Richard -
How big is the Tonium Team? Do you guys need help???
Do you realize that the Pacemaker has a highly interested and active following that is slowly but steadily growing and will not allow for you guys to "slow down" or "remain inactive" in the software/firmware front?
If you need help, ask for it, or hire some new people to the Tonium Team....
but we want a clean-working Firmware Update and better PM Editor NOWWW!!!!!
I’m thankful for SOME ACTION
-
Inappropriate?Hey! I've had my pacemaker for 12 hours and already I've done firmware upgrade. But, alas, there's still bugs. I totally agree with PeteDelve : we NEED better Xfader, BPM analyser, VU meters, scratch function, etc. CMON guys, get all the help you can......and give us the product we thought we paid for..............
I’m excited
-
Inappropriate?AT LEAST!!! IF YOU could say "yeah mates, we're working on it" but as of right now we don't know what you guys are doing.
For all we know you maybe have forgotten about the pacemaker and are working exclusively on the Pacemaker 2 ? is this true?
come on lads, SPEAK UP !
I’m getting pissed off
-
Inappropriate? They seem to be repeating the same awnsers all over again. Ive bought my PMD 2 days ago and didnt really have the time to check it out untill a few hours ago. After I loaded 3 tracks I noticed a HUGE mistake in the BPM, both PMD and PME were both saying 137 BPM while this shude be 150. I cant change nor lock the beat grid so i cant solve this problem myself. I didnt expect to run into this kind of problem, I keep pitch bending every few sec cause of the beats being off again. Why doesnt Tonium listen to us and get a hotfix over their BPM counter and BPM grid in software form? I know Itch does a great job in BPM measuring so why cant the PME do the same thing?!
-
Inappropriate? To Mats, who answered on the tonium forum about the mixer mode to ask questions here ;)
Mats, the mixer mode is not only a matter of gain or volume level between both lines, it's more a philosophy ;)
It's about volume levels ok, but disabling the crossfader too, channel 1 directly to line out, and channel 2 directly to headphones output.
I’m confident
-
It's possible to set the lineout on channel 1 and phones on channel 2, however they're still movable. Perhaps a function to disable the crossfader could work, but this is unfortunately the solution for now. -
Yeah, it looks like Pacemake don't understand.... that's exactly the point that they are still movable, and it creates a problem when mixing with an external mixer, because you can accidentaly move them. The other thing is that a dedicated mixer mode which adjusts the levels to the same output on both decks and automatically sets the deck 1 and 2 to their respective outputs, would save us set up time. I mostly don't bother even trying to connect up the pacemaker, cuz usually I'm playing after someone else, and I have enough of a job with changing the needles and picking the right records to go straight after the previous person, so I need some quick and stable setting which quickly makes the pacmaker operational, instead of mucking about with gains and crossfader types.
The thing is there would be no need for an external mixer mode maybe, if there was the ability to see-saw effects across decks... there is no way I'm continually switching between channels to change the bass settings consecutively and the bass-crossfader doesn't cut the mustard.
These are the two things I have been on and on about for the past two years now? The thing is this was promised way before automatic beatmatching were even suggested, and frankly automatic beatmatching is nice, but not essential... it's a nice gimmick... but without having the basics first it's pretty useless... so yeah over the last year or so I've had exactly 0 use for my pacemaker... get it sorted already! -
Inappropriate?is this "Get Satisfaction" or "Get Dissatisfied"???
I think an easy "yeah were working on a new PME and/or PMD firmware update!
I really hope you're not spending ALL YOUR TIME working on PM2 or that weird tablet touchscreen thing. :)
furthermore, can someone tell me what the inverted pentagram inside a Pentagon on the back of my pacemaker 666 actually means? Thank you! Just curious thats all :)
-
We are currently working on improving the Pacemaker and editor.
We are not working on that weird tablet, that had nothing to do with Tonium or Pacemaker. It was someones student project that used our logo and product to make a faked advertisement.
The inverted pentagram is an inverted pentagram, didn't you know that swedes are satanists? It's got the official mark of evil on it and all who are using it are working on bringing the devil back to earth.
:) -
May I suggest that you simply add rubberized low-profile nubs off on the left and right sides for Highs Mids and Lows (+6db -26db) -
Inappropriate?LOL......Satanists........He He He...........That explains all the issues & bugs (& thunder & lightning) we been havin.............but wait, I got a P211, and it got no pentagram on the back, so why oh why............oh sht, I 4got, I did a firmware and PME upgrade. That put me where I am........... Bugger! Anywayz : "Let's Mix, oh wait the p-buttons fallen off ;-), sorry we can't fix ya PMD you'll have to buy a new one!" BTW what was that weird tablet touchscreen thing? Was it not the STANTON SCS 3DTOUCH SENSITIVE USB CONTROLLER?? Ah well, let me go and mix to bring back the dev........................oh damn, the beats keep going outa sync. What now???
I’m silly with weed......
-
Inappropriate?Furthermore for model #999 or pro, or whatever, you will find it useful to drop any and all religious or pseudo-religious symbols from the outside of the device and from your model # profiles. After all, this is a product that should be available widely, and many people will take offense to ur numbering scheme and outside symbolism. You will be doing both the product and the company a disservice. Carry on now. Goodbye.

Hi Alpha
Yes of course, thank you for your input.
Cheers
/Mats -
i disagree, op should get over himself. -
Inappropriate? Is it true what I hear about a 3rd generation coming up early 2010?
I'm eager to get a PM since I saw a friend of mine using it.
Let me know please!
thanks
I’m excited
-
Inappropriate?http://www.slashgear.com/tonium-3rd-g...
is this true?
it also says we should expect 2 more firmware and software updates in the closing part of 2009?
I’m wondering what to think!
-
Inappropriate? If they aren't developing a new PM, I think the next FW-Update will be huge. I am usually patient.. My father is an alpha-tester of Diagnostics Software and they costumers always complain about the testing-time. I don't wan't to f*** up my device with an uncompleted Firmware and ending up in spamming up the whole Forum and beeing worried about tons of new bugs.. Come on. Just give them time.. I'm sure they're working hard on developing a new FW which (hopefully) kicks ass! IF they're not working on a new device.. But i'm quite sure they are ;-) (just think economical)
