CS3 always crashes now when using Topaz Adjust.
I have v2.6 of Topaz Adjust, but it still crashes my PS CS3 every time I try to use it.

Inappropriate?Did it not crash in previous versions? Also, are there any error messages or just the generic one where it says "Photoshop needs to close".
Best,
Eric -
Inappropriate?Eric, v2.6 is the only version I've had. I just purchased Adjust last week. I saw on the home page that if we were having problems, to uninstall/install v2.6, but that was the version I had to begin with. There are no error messages other than the standard 'PS needs to close'.

Inappropriate?Try uninstalling and re-installing again. Make sure that the new installer says "v2.6d" in the installer name. If that still doesn't work then we can try something else.
Best,
Eric -
Inappropriate?Uninstalled/reinstalled again. Made sure installer said v2.d. Still crashes every time I try to use PS. :\
I’m irritated.

Inappropriate?Jen, sorry for the inconvenience. Could you try this:
1. Go to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings and click the Advanced Tab. Near the bottom click on Environment Variables.
2. In the User Variables in the top, click on "New..."
3. Enter exactly "TLTRACE" (all caps) as the Variable Name, and "1" as the Variable Value.
4. Go back into Photoshop and make Topaz Adjust crash it again. Don't do anything else in Photoshop.
5. Go to Documents. Take the file "tltrace.txt" and attach it to an email to albert[at]topazlabs.com. This will help us find the problem.
Thanks so much. I'll get back to you after we solve it.
Best regards,
Eric -
Please also include this thread in some way, and include basic computer details like operating system and RAM. I also assumed you were using Windows, but if you're using Mac then let me know. -
Eric, I've been having what appears to be the same problem. I'm using CS3 on a VM Fusion Win XP partition on a MacBook Pro (Intel-chip). I had previously uninstalled, re-downloaded (yesterday) 2.6d, and changed my CS3 memory allocation to 90%. Didn't fix the problem. It almost always crashes when I try to close the filter. On some photos, it did allow me to edit one or two photos per session before crashing on the third one (typically 5-10 mb images). Now it crashes pretty much every time.
I followed your instructions in this message, and private emailed my tltrace.txt file to albert yesterday. More information - I found that the "spicify" preset seems to trigger the problem most readily. Using just the de-noise preset seems to work fine....
Dennis -
Just an update. I exchanged emails with Albert, and at his suggestion, upped the RAM for my VM Win XP session to a minimum of 1GB. Both Topaz Adjust (on Photoshop on Win XP), and my parallel OS-X sessions now work - although slowly. Unless Albert finds something more in my tltrace.txt file, I guess that this is my reality on this machine. However, it DOES work, so thanks for that!
Dennis -
Inappropriate?Actually I am on a Mac. Can you please instruct me on how to get you a trace file on a Mac? Thanks!
-
Inappropriate?Could I get your email address? We need to send you a file if you're using Mac. Or you could just send an email to eric.yang[at]topazlabs.com with your email to keep it private. Please refer to this thread in the email.
Best,
Eric -
Inappropriate?No problem. It's carmichaelwins[at]hotmail dot com.

Inappropriate?I am on a MacPro with 4 gb RAM, Photoshop CS3. Topaz Adjust ran a couple times, but now hangs forever once I click apply. I have no choice but to force quit. Can you be specific about how to uninstall on a Mac please? I tried uninstall/reinstall but I know I missed something, because the installer offered to upgrade rather than install. I assume there were some remnants of the prior install.
-
Inappropriate?Sure Michael,
All of the files are located in HD/Library/Application Support/Topaz Labs/Adjust, so if you delete that folder you should be good to go. There's also a file in HD/Library/Preferences called com.topazlabs.topazadjust.plist and a shortcut in your Photoshop Plug-Ins folder.
Best,
Eric -
Inappropriate?By the way Michael, if the problem persists, please download this file:
http://topazlabs.com/src/misc/libtlia...
and unzip it.
Go to Finder and press Shift-Command G. Type in "/usr/lib/".
Drag and drop the unzipped libtliadjust.2.6.dylib into the usr/lib folder. Replace the file currently there. Restart Photoshop and try again. Please let me know if that works!

Inappropriate?Ugh. Eric, ever since I d/l the upgrade version for the Mac, it crashes PS every time I use it now. I don't even have to open Adjust...just trying to use PS is impossible now. Help!
