I've seen snails quicker than Topaz detail
Topaz detail takes an age to load with a single layer 80mb TIF file on a 2x3 GHz QC Intel Mac with 8GB or Ram. With two layers it just hangs completely.

Inappropriate?Hi Dabow,
Thanks for the update.
What you are experiencing is a normal part of the program. It is pre-processing which is part of what allows you to have so much control and precision over your detail adjustments.
The pre-processing phase is going to be a little slow because of the complexity of the detail break down that it is doing.
However, I can assure you that it is much faster than then previous processing times in our Beta versions.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
I will also look into the two layer thing for you.
Best,
Ashley

Inappropriate?Hi Dabow,
What is the size of image, in terms of WxH in pixels? How long does the pre-processing take? If you open "Activity Monitor", what is the percentage of CPU use?
I just want to make sure that the software is running properly on your system.
P.S. The "faster snail" expression is pretty funny :-) I sometimes has the same feeling. We are working on it. (Will take some time since the algorithm is very computational intensive and we have pretty much done what we can to speed it up. But we are looking for a faster algorithm...).

Inappropriate?Albert - thanks for getting back on this. To answer your questions:
Image size is 5616 x 3744 pixels
CPU usage during processing is 40%. 60% idle.
Processing time is 2 mins on a single layer file
Oddly... I've just tried it on the same file with two layers and it only took a minute forty. The last time I tried this it just hung completely, so I'm not sure what's going on there? I even closed the file and started from scratch, with two layers... still a minute forty.
System resources are all well within threshold during processing, so it looks as though the plug-in is not making full use of the resources available to it for processing.
Rgds,
Dave

Inappropriate?Hi Dabow,
The number is about right. So it is just slow in normal sense.
Currently Topaz Adjust can only make effective use of 3~4 cores. So your quadcore will not be fully utilized. We know this is the area that need the most improvement and we are working on it.
A plus side is that it is quite fast after pre-processing stage, especially if you are experimenting with parameters a lot.
