Photoshop hangs with all Topaz filters

Hi,
I ran into a problem and I need some help. I have the Topaz bundle
running in Photoshop CS4 on Vista Home Premium on an Intel dual
processor system running at 3.2Ghz with 3GB of memory. Most of the
Topaz filters have been running fine for months, except the newer ones,
Detail and ReMask which also worked fine, but I have not had them as
long.

I installed some older graphic software, that does not run in Photoshop
(Magic Mirror, SqirlzMorph and WinMorph) plus some PDF software and
perhaps some other stuff. Several days later when I tried to run any
Topaz filters they no longer worked. All my other filters, both third party
and native Photoshop worked fine.

What would happen with the Topaz filters is that the UI would come up
(except ReMask which has none) and I could select any presets, whose
results I can see take affect in the preview window, but when I clicked OK
and return back to Photoshop, the hour glass will be displayed and
Photoshop just hangs with a Not Responding message in its window
header. If instead of OK, I click Cancel in the Topaz UI, I returned to
Photoshop normally. This happens on all files, small images and large,
single layers and dual layers. In ReMask when doing a process, the
progress bar window would come up and go through about half way
before Photoshop hangs.

I tried various things to get the Topaz filters to work. I uninstalled the old
graphic software, rebooted numerous times, uninstalled and reinstalled
some of the Topaz filters but nothing worked. I thought perhaps that the
old software had overwritten a system or DLL file that either Topaz or
Photoshop relied on to work properly, but I no longer think so.

Looking through the support forums I ran across a message about setting
the environmental variable TLTRACE to generate a trace log. I did this to
see if the log contained any information about the problem, and the Topaz
filters all worked! Removing this variable, or setting its value from 1 to 0
again causes Photoshop to hang.

So the filters work now, but I'm generating a trace log each time I run one.
Perhaps one of the graphics programs I installed changed a registry
value? Any help to solve this would be much appreciated. I did not
realize how much I relied on the Topaz filters in my work flow until I was
not able to use them!

Thanks for your help.
