Screencapturing problems from DVD

Ok, sorry in advance for my English, it's not my first language. Now on to the problem:
I'm trying to make screencaps from a DVD/ a .vob-file, but every time I'm taking a screencap the result is a squished image, the size dimensions don't fit. I tried every possible adjustment, also checked the resize option, but it keeps making caps in the size 720 x 576px and I only want to take a raw video frame. Funny thing is, when I take screencaps from an .avi file I can change the size dimensions. Any tips what I should change for .vob-files? It's pretty inconvenient and a lot of work to convert all DVDs I want to capture into .avi-format first, so I'd be happy with any help! :)
