Should 16-bit TIFF box in iPhoto be checked?

In configuring Fusion Express to work with iPhoto, the instructions say "Go to Advance panel, make sure that the box next to “Save edit as 16-bit TIFF files.” That the box next to "Save edit" is what? Checked? Unchecked? It's missing the last portion of the sentence.
