How do we submit additional information about ourselves for the Community Manager position?
I'm interested in applying for the Community Manager position (for the Portland, Oregon, area). Although I understand that we are supposed to submit trips and wait to hear from you, I wonder whether there is any way to send along any background information about our experience. Many thanks!

Inappropriate?Hi Mariangela and Chdet--
We recommend that writers who would like to be considered for a position use their real names or a very identifiable nickname that will lead us to their writing or other information (we're avid googlers--but don't worry, we won't dig too deep).
Though, to be honest, we're more interested in the quality of a given writer's Trazzler trips than in whether he or she has published work elsewhere. What do we look for? The most important factors when we hire writers:
--good choice of places
--the ability to zoom in on a particular experience
--the ability to transport the reader to the place
--a interesting slant/angle
--little or no need for editing
Thanks for taking the time to write.
Best,
Megan

Hi Megan,
thanks for your clear answer. There's one thing missing though (that I forgot to ask): how does it work when I'm currently registered as an inhabitant of Berlin, but I would like to apply for a position as community manager in Santiago? I'll be moving there in one week and would therefore love to write for Trazzler about all the ins and outs on the Santiago musical (night) and gastromical life?
Thanks a lot.

Inappropriate?Megan,
Many thanks for your reply. I just saw your posting on craigslist for the Portland, Oregon area. I've already submitted trips that you've posted online. Keeping my fingers crossed that I'm still in the running for the community manager position for the area. I realize you're less interested in previously published work, but to give you a quick sense of my love of all things travel-related, you can google me by my full name (Christina Henry de Tessan). I've written for concierge. com and am the series editor of Chronicle Books' City Walks decks. Thanks for you consideration. I'm very interested in your new approach and would love to be a part of it.
Best,
Christina -
Inappropriate?I was interested in applying for this, but I'm not willing to write samples that may get posted for free. I'd rather just give you my resume and writing samples and have a normal interview.

Inappropriate?Hi Christina--
Thanks for your interest and the additional information. I look forward to reading your trips.
Hi Mariángela--
You can change your location by going to trazzler.com and mousing over your name in the top right part of the navigation bar. Then click on "account settings." Or, if you are logged in, go here:

When we are reviewing trips and keeping track of candidates, we consult this information.
Hi Megan--
It is certainly your prerogative to abstain from writing for Trazzler and we respect that. So far, we've found the best writers (for us) are power users who enjoy using the site, understand what makes Trazzler tick, and can easily navigate the content creation tools. Sifting through resumés and writing samples hasn't been nearly as effective as just evaluating a few trips, so we moved to this system.
Thanks again to everyone for writing.
Megan
