Trazzler/Facebook Connect Comments
Hey guys,
Tinkered around the site for a bit. A few comments on "glitchy" stuff I may have encountered:
1) Every time I've logged in using "alternate sign-up/sign-in" or "connect with Facebook," I've received an invite/Trazzler email (Subject Line: "Your invitation to write for Trazzler"). So, I've received about a dozen of them today. (I logged in and out to test it.) Not sure if you want that to happen...
2) When I click on my Trazzler tab on my Facebook profile, it takes a long time to load. The several times I've clicked on the tab to see my wishlist, it doesn't load at all, and I have to refresh to make the list show up. Once I've gotten to that page, I see that my wishlists are now in sync. Great!
3) Possible typo: "Sync your Trazzler account with Facebook Connect get more relevant trips, social features and close integration with Facebook. It'll just take a few seconds." I don't remember on what page I saw this, but perhaps "to" should be inserted after "Facebook Connect."
Questions:
4) "Friends on Trazzler": I'm unclear who these people are and what sorts of things you can do with a list of friends. Are people on Trazzler "addable"? Or are they simply people who have wishlisted a trip I've written, or people who've written trips I've wishlisted? Or are these the people who already have synched profiles and they're showing up by default?
5) I have 0 recommendations so far. I'm assuming in order to add some, there'll be a button on the trip page saying "Recommend"? Is this feature not up yet? (Or is it the "tell a friend" button?)

6) On my profile, I see the stats for the # of Trazzler and user trips I've written. It'd be neat to see the # of Trazzler photos that a person has taken, too.
7) How are the thumbails on one's profile displayed/chosen? It'd be cool to reorder and drag/drop our favorite trips we've written that we'd like to showcase on our main profile page. (I ask this because on my profile, two user trip thumbnails appear -- photos would look nicer! I suppose I could delete these trips, too...)
My intial feedback for now. I like the new stuff -- hope to see more!

I can answer a few of your questions (and hopefully Adam can hop in on the other stuff)....

You will be able to add new Facebook friends while in Trazzler--this is coming soon. You will also be able to invite your facebook friends to join Trazzler, so that you can keep track of what they write and add to their wishlist. Soon, on the home page, we will have a feed that lets you know what your friends have been up to.
On the trip pages, you can see who wishlisted your trips (I believe that you will see friends first, writers second, and then regular users third). We'll be doing all kinds of stuff with Travel Compatibility and Personality--we're very open to any ideas that you might have.

Yes, exactly. This is coming very soon. Instead of "Tell a Friend," we'll have a "Recommend" button where you can send a friend an email, send a trip via facebook, or add the trip to your profile and rate it (this will be like a "been there" feature).

Interesting, we hadn't thought of this. I'll put this on our idea list.

I agree. We're going to fix this so that the user trips drop to the bottom, instead getting mixed in. There are all sorts of different ways that we could sort these trips...
--geographically for the person looking at your profile page.
--by popularity, based on wishlisting.
--according to the algorithm (put the trips that match the person's travel personality best, first).

Thx for this. What did you think over all? Have you used any of the other Facebook Connect sites? What did it feel like to login this way? You're an active user - did you already have Facebook friends who use Trazzler, and did they show up?

This is definitely not intended. We tested extensively and haven't seen this bug, so I'm a little baffled here. Would you mind forwarding me all the emails that went out so we have the time stamp and can compare to our logs?

We're introducing a Facebook profile widget that will work from the www site. We'll look the slowness issue when we hit that project.

I think this is on the main screen when you log in with a www (not FB Connect) login. I'll check it out.

Inappropriate?Logging in this new way for the first time was swift and easy. It took seconds to "sync." I like the look of the new writer/user profiles so far—the photo thumbnails look great (though I like Megan's comment about finding different ways to reorder them). It'd be cool to see more fields at the top to insert info (i.e., "Favorite places," "Locales I'd like to visit," "Favorite trip on my wishlist," "Favorite trip I've written," etc.)
I had questions about the friends feature as I mentioned, but I think I'll understand more once I start inviting friends and whatnot. Once I was logged in, I saw that I had one friend from Facebook with a Trazzler profile (although now I can't seem to find her photo thumbnail again -- I don't see her when I click on "see all" under Friends on Trazzler). I like how you can view the # of people at the top right who've wishlisted a trip, too.
Megan mentioned a feed on the home page that will let users know what friends have been up to—would this be our Facebook update status? It'd be cool for the feed specifically to be for travel or trip updates, i.e., a "Where is this Trazzler user going today?" type of update.
Overall, I think this new look and feel as more of a network with friends better reflects what Trazzler is about. I've read the past comments here about how some users are hesitant to write content for free. I've never really seen it this way, as simply an informational site written strictly by professionals. These new features, and the ability to interact more with other users/writers, show the mix of people who can use the site. You've now made it much faster for new users to start writing trips without having to wait for access. I think that's a good thing...
