Teenageer wants to blog by sms in the UK
Hi
I'm not sure whether this is an idea, problem or just questions etc.
I was at barcamp manchester yesterday and saw katie's presentation, while it wasn't centred on treasuremytext it obviously involved some discussion.
I was particuarly intersted in the possibility of using TMT for blogging by text (i get good ideas for posts but by the time i'm sitting in front of a keyboard its gone)
I have like 300 texts to UK mobiles/month and i thought that this could be really cool to be able to blog by text
of course the problem i see is that TMT has a dutch phonenumber and its not exactly cheap for me to sms a dutch standard rate mobile - 75p/text last time i checked! and so as a uk teenager this is *way* out of my reach in terms of price
Now perhaps i should be looking at twitter or something for this, but in my experience twitter spams everyone with emails and messages every second san i hate things that market themselves as social networks.
anyway it would be really cool to blog by sms, but i can afford 75p+/text.
any chance of a UK mobile number sometime soon?

Hi Donna, which number were you using the +31 number or the +44, the +44 is a UK number based in the Channel Islands. All the operators except for T-Mobile and Virgin in the UK charge this as a normal UK number. Those operators will charge you 10 -15p for those messages. We've added a notice on the homepage regards message charges which hopefully makes it a bit clearer.

Hey there and thanks for the suggestion!
Yes! ... you can use Treasuremytext to blog by SMS. The new version of Treasuremytext lets you set up a Text Stream page (a public page which is like a SMS blog).
Here's my Text Stream as an example: http://beta.treasuremytext.com/SMS/ka...
Some people use it to display messages they're received but some are also using it to blog their thoughts. You can of course customise how Text Streams look.
The Treasuremytext Beta site works with a Dutch number only but that's only while we're in beta. When we go live properly with the new service you'll be able to use a UK number (and we're also keeping a Dutch number for people in the Netherlands and a +1 American number for users in USA and Canada).
So yes you can blog by SMS, and yes there'll be a UK number.
This will happen very soon (days not weeks, we hope) and we'll keep you posted. In the mean time, thanks for the suggestion!
I’m bloggy!

Inappropriate? In addition you can syndicate your streams to other places via RSS, your TextStream has an RSS but so does each folder in your account (only you will know the RSS address). We've used a wordpress plugin to do this on our own blog, see over at http://blog.treasuremytext.com/ for an example. At some point we will make it simpler to embed your streams elsewhere.

Inappropriate? It should be more publicised that it is NOT a UK number. I've just checked my balance on my phone after reading this and it has charged me nearly six pounds for the texts I had uploaded so far. Thank God I read this before I uploaded more. Thought it was free!!! Quite disappointed
Otherwise, a brilliant application
I’m anxious
