The Triggit widget is crashing Internet Explorer. Here's the background of my identifying the issue as a user; it would be great to see the problem resolved so that I could add Triggit back onto my blog (
http://christine.net).
My blog's home page began creating an error for me, and for two of my readers. I am using Internet Explorer 7.0.6000.16705, on Windows XP 2002 Service Pack 2. The home page loads about halfway, then I get this popup error:
"Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site
http://www.christine.net/.
Operation aborted"
After clicking OK on the popup, I see this page error:
"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
Most likely causes:
- You are not connected to the Internet.
- The website is encountering problems.
- There might be a typing error in the address."
I was able to hear back from one other person, and he is using IE 7.5730.11. He sent me a screenshot of the error and it appears to be identical to the one I am receiving. The difference is that the error is crashing his browser after the popup, whereas I simply get the page error after the popup.
At the suggestion of Typepad's tech support folks, I removed the widgets from my sidebars one at a time, checking to see if the blog displays correctly after each one. I took everything off one by one, and after removing the Triggit widget things displayed normally. I have added the other widgets back in, and (fingers crossed) the site is still coming up fine in IE. So it looks like the Triggit widget caused the problem...
