I created an account with Tripit. I forwarded my confirmation email. The info showed up on my Tripit account. Good so far. Downloaded the iPhone app. Granted access to my account and logged in. Tapped on my trip in Upcoming Trips, but all of the items were missing the date/time. The heading is "Undated items". If I select a flight, it reads "San Jose" in the "departs" category -- no date or time. Any ideas.
I sent some screen shots in to the feedback e-mail address. Any suggestions?
(Some of this text was copied from another post....thanks Mark)
How can I add multiple legs to a road trip? We're planning a 3-week trip and would like to be able to set up each leg within the main trip rather than as individual "trips". Thanks!
I created an account with Tripit. I forwarded my flight and hotel confirmation emails. The info showed up on my Tripit account. Good so far. Downloaded the iPhone app. Granted access to my account and logged in. Tapped on my trip in Upcoming Trips, but the next screen was empty; no details. Deleted app from iPhone and re-installed, still the same.
I sent a message to Tripit feedback. Silence.
This app is about to get one star. Any ideas what is going on?
Idea: Calculate Miles by the 'miles' box from the itinerary, not by the distance between the two cities. Frequent fliers use this mileage to calculate distance, so it would help track total miles easier. :)
I'm at 36K miles instead of 41K because of the discrepancy. Would help me track my FF miles better.
I'd really like to be able to see trips shared with me on the iphone app. My husband and I both use TripIt, and it would help enormously if we could use our iPhone apps to quickly get contact and travel information for each other.
How do you manually add mileage/distances to itineraries (for example rail or coach segments).
I know you can add the mileage to flights - but how do you do it for other stuff?
It would be really useful -- since you know how far I'm traveling and which airlines I'm on -- to track mileage program numbers... Every now and then I get emails telling me how many miles I've accrued, but it'd be smart for TripIt to do this. Expedia (I believe) offers a similar feature, but theirs is useless.
If you both counted the numbers of miles I've accrued based on YOUR estimates, then let me forward you my mileage emails with THEIR counts, it'd be fascinating to see if the airlines are actually accurate in their calculations.
I think URLs for the iCal feeds should be more protected. I can currently look at anyone's feed if I know their username by loading "webcal://www.tripit.com/feed/ical/people/username/tripit.ics". That seems a bit open. People aren't supposed to just be able to see my traveling schedule with just a username, right? Anyway, two cents.
I might not want to share my trip, but it'd be cool if I could add some contact details for folks I expect I'll need to contact when I arrive... Besides "add plans", I'd like an "add local contacts" link.
Currently only meetings and activities are supported, but this ignores the need for multi-day events like conferences, which don't fit into any of the existing categories.
It'd be really useful if I could better use TripIt for conference travel planning...!
Given that I travel a lot and have many trips that I'm trying to organize at once, I sometimes forget what I need to do to finish up planning, especially if I'm going to be taking a multi-leg trip in multiple cities.
It would be really handy if TripIt gently reminded me: "Looks like you haven't booked lodging in Vancouver yet. Would you like to do this now?"
Alternatively, I'd love to be able to set certain tasks for myself in the context of a trip: "contact your buddy about staying with him on the 8th", etc.
When setting up a trip, it is nice to have a picture to go with it. The current selection of trip images is very small. I know I can upload images, but I'd prefer it if there was a greater selection to start with. (As an added feature maybe also with some "intelligent" suggest a selection based on destination.)
I've set up certain Gmail filters to forward messages from various email addresses with certain subjects to TripIt. These rules aren't perfect, but they get the job done, but that means that whenever an airline like Virgin America sends me details of an upcoming flight (that I already entered into TripIt), it gets forwarded on to TripIt and recorded as a new flight, even though all the flight details (including confirmation number!) match.
Why doesn't TripIt recognize these as duplicates and either ignore them or save them as activities to moderate later: "Looks like this is a duplicate of a trip you've already recorded. Would you like to overwrite the old trip or discard the new one?"
I'd much prefer to use public transit in certain cities (SF, Portland!) than driving, and since Google Maps now supports this, it seems that you should offer me that option instead of forcing me to use driving directions...!
Unless someone is a fellow traveler or "trusted" connection (you currently don't have this distinction, but Brightkite does), you don't want to share private travel details like Passport numbers, confirmation numbers and the like... BUT, this is what's great about TripIt -- having all your travel information in one place!
I'd like to have a public view of a trip -- and to be able to be very selective with whom I share trip details with... but also store private or sensitive information for my own use or recall.
Adding the ability to mark any segment, item or note as "private" would be greatly appreciated.
