Airline connections/layovers shouldn't cause maps to be added to itineraries.
Just because I have a 6 hour layover doesn't mean that I need a local map added to my itinerary. While this might be hard to detect, it seems like you could avoid this by looking at the time spent at a given location -- only if it's greater than 24 hours, maybe add the map?

Inappropriate?Makes sense, Chris. The thinking here is that if you have a layover greater than 4 hours, you might actually venture outside the airport. ;-) Not sure what the magic number is but it's always worth looking at again. Thanks, as always!

I was thinking about that. Perhaps it's less automated -- maybe there's a simply link off to the side of each item that has a location attached to it: "Add a map for this location." Then I can pick which areas I want a map for (for example, if I'm going back home, I won't need maps). -
Inappropriate? How about airport maps if you have a connection / layover? It's probably venturing a bit far into the territory of other services (FlightTracker comes to mind, but I've never used it so can't say for sure) to pull down gate information for each leg of an indirect flight, but at least with a map I would only have to look at the one board to get the gate info and be on my way. As Chris suggests, offering to add a map without automatically inserting it would provide convenience without being too intrusive.

I think there's definitely an opportunity to make this area smarter... like if you have a two-hour layer, a map of the airport with power, food and wifi would be super useful; much more so than a map of the local city at least!
