Allow creating "private" notes
Unless someone is a fellow traveler or "trusted" connection (you currently don't have this distinction, but Brightkite does), you don't want to share private travel details like Passport numbers, confirmation numbers and the like... BUT, this is what's great about TripIt -- having all your travel information in one place!
I'd like to have a public view of a trip -- and to be able to be very selective with whom I share trip details with... but also store private or sensitive information for my own use or recall.
Adding the ability to mark any segment, item or note as "private" would be greatly appreciated.

Inappropriate?Sounds like a valuable feature. I'll pass it on. Just curious, would you also like to store this private info in your TripIt account? Seems like that would be a useful feature in this case, especially if it's information you'd like to recall. Thoughts?
I’m thankful

Yeah, absolutely, though I think you'd want to beef up your distinctions of what's private and what's shareable... For example, I think it'd be super handy to record confirmation numbers, frequent flyer mile numbers, etc... but I'd want to know that those pieces of information are always kept hidden except to me (or "trusted" friends/travelers). You could do this very simply by putting a lock icon next to such input fields.
