Adtec Server Problem
We are using a pair of Adtec Soloist2 servers for playback on our two channels. Each server provides playback for it own channel. The problem is this:
If a file is playing back on the server, and a new file is set to play while the old file is still playing, the new file will not fire and the old file will repeat itself by playing over again.
This plays havoc with our schedule. We are currently getting around this problem by rounding up the file length to the next second, adding a second to that time, and placing a 2 second interstatial for all the programs on the channel. This fixes the problem 90% of the time, but it leave unsightly 4 or 5 second gaps between all our programming. (Not to mention all the bumping that occurs.)
Is there any way that cablecast can make a new file over ride a file that is currently playing? I know this is possible, because the Symphony playback software that came with the Soloist, did just that.
Thank you.

I have this problem, too!
Tell me when someone solves it.

Inappropriate?Was this ever resolved? We are looking at the Adtec hardawre for our playback.

Inappropriate?No, this was never resolved. We ended up buying a four output Tightrope server.
The cablecast software was capable of playing a file on the Adtec Soloist2 servers without any problem. The glitch in the system occured when the software tried to play two files in tandem. The software wouldn't play the second file, if the first file was still playing. This meant that you needed to place 5 or more seconds between the two files.
If you were to play a file on the soloist and then go to another source,like a DVD player, it was clean and you didn't need any time in the schedule between the two programs. Or, if you were to buy two or more Soloist servers and alternate between them you would be ok too. -
Inappropriate?We have three Soloist 4111 HD Digital Media Server, with all the 2.02.13 Firmware Version installed, we’re using mediaControl V 2.2.45 to manage that servers;
From a couples of days, an error messages on mediaControl appeared when we’re connecting,
at one of that media server the following Message keeps appearing and when we click OK, it is disappeared for a while and appeared again :
“File Transfer Failed.
Replay Code:=0 UnKnown_Response.
Login Error Message .
connection closed without indication”
the other error messages are happened on another media server which has an connection error problem ;
after connecting successfully to that server the mediaControl keeps freezing then this message is displayed at the top left corner (Communication Error in xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx), after that
another error message at the same location appeared (Connection Refused:limit reached.) .
your feedback please. -
Inappropriate?Yasin, we don't make the mediaControl software. Our Cablecast servers controlled the Soloist2 units, but that was 4 or 5 years ago. I suggest contacting Adtec directly.
