Broadcasting Carousel via a RG6 network?? HELP
Dear John, JJ, broadcast techs,
One of our customers has existing displays with built in ATSC tuners and we would like to know if a player exist to broadcast via an RG6 network a modulated HD signal to channel 3.1 on each display?
If I could get some feedback on this it would be very helpful. If you have more questions about this could you call Ernie our AV Engineer at 858-354-8498.
Thanks,
Megan

Inappropriate?Megan,
The first suitable answer I came across is the ZvPro 250 from ZeeVee (http://zeevee.com/commercial) Their product takes in a base band signal (VGA, component) encodes it to MPEG-2, and then distributes it as a QAM signal. (Which I think ATSC tuners can read, but I'm not 100% sure.)
That being said, we're far from HDTV modulation experts, and I would definitely do a bit more research and talk to your dealer about other possible options.
Hope that works out for you! Please let us know how it goes, there are numerous situations where only coax is ran to new HD monitors and we'd love to have other options to propose.

Inappropriate? The ZeeVee is it right now. We've looked into this issue, and other options are waaaaaay too expensive. Might want to give one of these a try. Geffen is working on an HDMI over Coax solution, but it's been pending for over a year. Sometimes their product "kinda work" so be careful with the Geffen gear.
You're bound to see more of these solutions as the use of component video for HD gets turned off over the next couple years. There will be a huge push for HDMI distribution over Coax or Cat5 in existing systems as a lot of times it's not going to be possible to pull new wires.
